Yeah, no problem. I don't have one with a cake right now, but at least you can get the idea.







I only use them for one grow cycle โ€” then I toss them. We drink bottled water at home, so there are always a ton of empty bottles piling up.

And if you cut them this way, they're super handy to open and they seal pretty well.

I did mine the same the first go around, using the grooves to my advantage.
The bottom half walls all bowed in however.

I'll give it another spin next bottle and see if it was just a fluke but these things are flimsy.

5 more tonight. 3 GTs and 2 JMFs. Went very heavy on the LC, like 5ml/cake.

Will try and grab pics tomorrow of the remaining B+ cake. It's damn respectable for how visibly fuckin dry it is. I don't even own a mister rn. Bit of a shame to imagine what it could have been if I hadn't been neglecting surface conditions.

Can I just point an aquarium air pump in the bottom of a water tub? Was hoping the WT would keep ambient humidity high enough for coir conditions to stay good, but so far, not the case. But some movement would probably help.

    Great White Monste (AA+) x KSSS = Great White Koh Samui

    Perhaps a new contender for the throne! This was on a Straw Cake using a slightly modified Muda RecIPe. 92g



    I had mixed spores together and injected, not sure if its truly a cross or not, but I can say that the Koh Samui cakes didn't make very large caps before. Grabbing prints, cloned the big boy, let's see what happens next.

    This one is Sibu, but also from grown on straw cakes as above. 82g or so.

    Nice, I just finished up with Pink blocks, I did shoot this Grey Oyster for a mini tester of a culture I haven't had the pleasure with. I have a Black Pearl right behind the grey oyster, a few days and it will be finished.  We... shall... See.

    When you have pins completely covering the cakes, how do you make sure they have enough water? Canโ€™t bottom water these ones, when Iโ€™m misting, no matter how gently always makes at least one abort.

    Should I even be worried about not having enough water? The conditions in the tub are great, they donโ€™t look like they are drying out, but Iโ€™m concerned there is not enough water for 50+ pins on a cake? Am I tripping for no reason on first flush?

    Some of my best cakes didn't get any bottom watering or misting. If you've got good conditions in your fruiting chamber โ€” LITFA.

    Misting during the fruiting phase used to give me more aborts.

    In my opinion, cakes just push as far as they can. If you've got tons of pins and they go for large fruits โ€” a lot of them are gonna abort. If they go for smaller fruits โ€” fewer aborts.

    In the end, it heavily depends on genetics. The Matias Romero culture I've got has a sweet spot. Fewer fruits, 2 - 3 aborts, and they yield an optimal weight. The cake stays a lot cleaner. On the flip side, with the TPBs I always have to pick a ton of aborts โ€” even though the harvested weight is the same.
