The desire to get tattoos
    #29709331 -

I don't have a lot of tattoos compared to many other people, but I'm pestered by the desire to get more.

Anyone else get that feeling?

Yeah I want to cover the ones I got during schizophrenia and finish my chest. Then I think that's it.

I've been wanting more tattoos since I got my last one 12 years ago, but I got incredibly indecisive on what to get. Lately, I have somewhat of an idea on what to get and by who, but I also want to black out this tribal tattoo I got when I was 17 and do something white on black.

The particular idea that's pestering me for years: I have a Celtic band on my right forearm and Asian lettering running up the back. I have the desire to sleeve by lower arm with geometry and other symbolic references. I see the fabric of existence through these symbols and have for a very long time, it just feels like something I need to do.

I'd need the right artist to help me incorporate and transition my current tats with new work, I can see it in my mind, but getting it on skin is different.

I have zero tattoos.

I'm loosely thinking of having an Omnicyclion star tatted, but it is not in any way a priority at this time.

I have no tattoos.

But I often felt tempted to get one. I'm just always worried one day I might regret getting it.

That only happens if you chose the wrong ones to get.

Just don't do that. :dumblol:

All jokes aside, I've never regretted my tattoos.

I've always looked at the fear of regretting a tattoo as a sign that someone actually doesn't really want a tattoo. Worrying about regretting a permanent design etched into your skin seems like it should be the most obvious red flag.

Yeah, and to be totally honest there's a very high chance of regretting it either way.

I always change my mind on what I actually want and it means I keep not getting one

Never been pierced or inked. Grew up with a crew who pretty much all ended up that way too, but idk - never would’ve been able to afford what I wanted. And now that I can I don’t wanna damage my skin

My kiddo watched this show a lot (not as much now). But this was one of the episodes. Summary - why the fuck do people put this shit in their bodies, but also you’ll be fine.

I have a tattoo on my leg i regret that I got drunk with a friend I no longer speak to and it just brings up memories of our friendship and I think about how I don't speak to him anymore and how far we've strayed from each other. If I ever get another tattoo it will not be so glib. It will be specific to me and meaningful in a particular way with an accompanying story and I advise everyone else do the same. It was many years ago and it is such a dumb tattoo.

drunk tattoos are always a good idea

I'm very fortunate that when I get drunk I don't get motivated to go do stuff

No tattoos, no desire to get any (anymore, but I did used to want one purely for aesthetics, never felt like it was wise to act on that impulse). I enjoy looking at them on other people's bodies, but there are so many other things I'd rather spend my 'fun' money on. Including other kinds of art.

I feel like if someone's tattoo brings them joy on a regular basis then it's worth it regardless of what anyone else thinks - and I think the novelty of it would wear off pretty quick for me. I also worry about the fact that tattoo ink isn't inert at all and can directly trigger all kinds of autoimmune-type issues.
