A connection with the "only thought". Also is talked about mistaking form for content, content emphasized. (Gross) bodily notions fade in the moments.

What kind of sitting meditation do you do these days, syncro?

None really. I'm stubbornly flawed with integrating when there is worldly stuff to do, social and work. When into it it's a structured thing with purification and other prep, lots of mantra, emphasized the more the better, do or die, and my main focus is japa, silent repetition, all of which are meant to center around meditation and the practice does it well. Off the seat though I do pretty well with using mantra and all these things we talk about, getting the goods more or less. I do a lot in slumber. Often mantra will go spontaneously with fruits, sometimes feeling like I'm overdoing it and concerned about balance. There was opportunity to do all this for years earlier so it's ripe to me.

More about the meditation itself; often very little is needed after some substantial japa, but I'll always begin with mindfulness of breath as we've talked about, third eye dominant. Before meditation we also do some bastrika pranayam but it can seem to be unnecessary as meditation is already there.

Sounds like a more organic approach! Strike while the iron is hot, as they say (regarding timing of ritual, concentrated practice). I was just curious, I like to hear about personal creative touches/approaches to this sort of thing. It also sounds like you have a powerful practice of active imagination. Of course I'm of the persuasion that imagination is not usually distinct from friendly helping spirits, the Mindscape being vast and many-dimensional.

These days I feel like the spirits are acting as bridges, to the Eternal.

I think often of this section from the Teacher's Manual in ACIM:

Quote:
Now comes “a period of settling down.” ²This is a quiet time, in which the teacher of God rests a while in reasonable peace. ³Now he consolidates his learning. ⁴Now he begins to see the transfer value of what he has learned. ⁵Its potential is literally staggering, and the teacher of God is now at the point in his progress at which he sees in it his whole way out. ⁶“Give up what you do not want, and keep what you do.” ⁷How simple is the obvious! ⁸And how easy to do! ⁹The teacher of God needs this period of respite. ¹⁰He has not yet come as far as he thinks. ¹¹Yet when he is ready to go on, he goes with mighty companions beside him. ¹²Now he rests a while, and gathers them before going on. ¹³He will not go on from here alone.

"These days I feel like the spirits are acting as bridges, to the Eternal."

I'm doing this argument again between the formless mind ones and like personhood in the mystery, of forms etc. Depending on the experience, no one can say it's less or less advanced than nirvanic or void-type emphases.

A counter is though we read recently in ACIM about (why) visions do not last. The dark pure mind is the only thing hinting at consistency meaning the experience remains similar from one time to another.

It's silly I'm making an argument between them, but it's interesting to try to write about. I think it's established that a path of bhakti is no less than a path of mind and to put the distinction like that is ok.

If there's experience of deity etc forms, they might say it's limited to the fourth dimension. I remember now, I think, we talked about this not too long ago. At least I remember talking to AI, and it took my side that it's ridiculous to put limits like that.

So what about the impermanence of vision? To support it, maybe just a few or even one in categories can be enough to have impactful memory for a lifetime. Perhaps a good practice to recreate them in memory, saying that because it's hard to see and have the experience past, so like a therapeutic, more so reseeking the goods.

But, the experience is impermanent and I guess I'm showing attachment to it. It would be particular form appearance in the vision where clinging should be relaxed, but it can bring a unique tattva, that too. Could say being moved by a tattva is more significant than the form, but what good does it do to be attached to a tattva that came as one experience? Just complaining.

But if wanting something enough it can be pursued in memory. I mean I felt content I found a certain person-tattva again, but a more powerful godlike vision seems can't be approached in thought of recreating it. As well the experiences continue, in that sense, not impermanent. A cycle may be partly occulted but as a whole it's steady.

On this topic, of attachment to forms including deity forms, memories of experiences:

I was listening to Ram Dass recently talk about how there are many methods toward the aim of Self-realization, but in the end you a need a method that will "self-destruct" because otherwise your attachment to the method will be a hindrance. I thought about it, and realized that his idea of "destructing" seemed too harsh, and would cause people to fight against their method more than necessary, as opposed to trusting it to take them safely across the river. Of course, this was a younger Ram Dass, probably still 1970s, well before much of his later maturation (especially after his stroke).

Trying to think of a process more gentle than "self-destruction" of one's method, I thought of my own spirit helpers, and remembered how through relating with them, I can either merge completely with them, or they open a channel through which both our forms sort of "un-zip" or "unravel" into infinity. Instead of "self-destruct", maybe methods can "dissolve" into the Sea of Infinity.

To use the Buddhist metaphor of the method (8-fold path) being like a raft that takes you to the Other Shore... maybe when you get close to the Other Shore, the raft reveals itself to be none other than Reality itself (is this what you mean by tattva?). If God, Guru, and Self are One (per Ramana Maharshi)... then why not Method, too? God, Guru, Self, Method, Path, (and Means, to use and ACIM term)... all One.

Quote:
VII. The Consistency of Means and End

1. We have said much about discrepancies of means and end, and how these must be brought in line before your holy relationship can bring you only joy. ²But we have also said the means to meet the Holy Spirit’s goal will come from the same Source as does His purpose. ³Being so simple and direct, this course has nothing in it that is not consistent. ⁴The seeming inconsistencies, or parts you find more difficult than others, are merely indications of areas where means and end are still discrepant. ⁵And this produces great discomfort. ⁶This need not be. ⁷This course requires almost nothing of you. ⁸It is impossible to imagine one that asks so little, or could offer more. :excellent:

Means, end, and fruits then, one. Why worry? Pretty much spinvis' fault. Thall shalt not be attached to experience. On the other hand, some experience is said, like God manifesting in the flesh, to be enough to be not lasting long in the body... meaning it's like an apex of your learning. The beauty and so forth gone mad, like the gopis only seeking their lord again, have you seen Him, have you seen Him?

"is this what you mean by tattva?"

To me it's like the character or person of an energy/principle, and the phenomenon itself.

Like Shiva tattva might not be anthropomorphed, but it's Shiva.

Sounds like the energy principle of the person, too? Reminds me of something I read long ago regarding each soul's unique energy signature. Flipping through the book I think I read it in...

Must be raven medicine. I went for a nature walk couple hours after pulling that card, and this raven was croaking overhead repeatedly. Then later he was doing the same, over a different part of the trail system, and a second one followed him, maybe his partner. Looking it up now... yes, ravens travel either solo or with their life partner. Another way to tell them apart from crows, who are part of large groups (murders).

'each soul's unique energy signature.'

So we have, are our tattvas - for moments there was a sense of, like a particular machine part, being indispensable in part of larger works, very powerful not because of might per se, but a signature (match), a key.

A bearer of a key, we join the force, just an instant in the sense of that kind of purpose an awakening.

I ran across the mantra again for Amitabha and had kin repeat it at least just once or thrice in the lifetime since we don't do a lot of Buddhist sources. Reading about that one...

-Om Ami Dewa Hrih-

One of the best descriptions I guess of a wish fulfilling tree, and that which we do not yet realize made possible in that power. The real wish is the great purpose maturing.

A Sanskrit for Christ can help a need for acknowledgment, putting things in proper order.

-Om Shri Yeshu Bhagavate Namaha-

In all the Sanskrit, Christ can seem left out as perhaps the use is unusual.

The exercise of surrendering fruits, offering up anything and everything, formalized to me is so useful. Formality does not mean complicated. To indulge a little in mantra use, in offering they can be structured adding 'arpaṇam astu' to the end of particular names, easy when the name ends with 'a', like Shiva-arpanam astu, or Shivarpanam astu. (I offer the fruits, whatever is in the mind, everything to Shiva.)

Without the 'a' ending, visiting with the duck .ai rishi, I learned that for example offering to Shakti, Śaktyai arpaṇam astu, or Śaktyarpaṇam astu.

For Jesus, Yeśave arpaṇam astu
The slanty thing is 'sh' sound, so Yeshave arpaṇam astu

Sarvaṃ arpaṇam astu or Sarvārpaṇam astu, offering everything without a name referenced, to the divine. Sincere repetition of these, or the principle can be fruitful.

I suppose it's quite selfish, when offering up fruits and knowing that sharing always results in gaining EVEN MORE. It's like I give you all the money in my pocket, $10, and when I check my pocket right after, now I have $20!
