I've come a way with growing. Cloning got me unlimited supply to work with first. Then I got as many shrooms as I want. Now I want to get the nurturing capabilities to keep a strain from senesence. I gotta be able to do prints. These were failed streaks. Had like 10 failed plates no clean sections. I think I streaked to aggressively like rubbed the loop back and forth real fast to get them spores on there so they grew like everywhere and not in just little splotches. Any advice on what I need to improve? I'm a bit lax on sanitation with catching prints. I just grab a cap slap it on foil put a bowl over it. I figure if it ain't clean I can make it clean. So yea I have used these not so cleanly gathered prints and cut a clean wedge away and transferred to new plate till good before like once.

Have you ever tried to transfer agar to a new plate, it doesn't come off the scalpel and instead of doing something reasonable like scraping it off with the lid or throwing your tweezers into the sterilizer to push it off you just nerd rage scrape into the agar and decide to just let it ride for some reason?

I haven't either but once I find the drunk asshat who did this to my cultures I'm gonna give him hell

Pulled this one out of storage, my guess this is condensation droplets and somehow it pulled the dye through or out of the myecelium onto the drops? Looks like I have some radioactive bacteria or something I love it.

Looks like that plate is producing spice lol

Also, if you keep the edge of the blade pointing down, it'll cut through the bottom of the wedge when you make your transfer and come off the blade nice and easy

The biggest hurdle you need to work on here is sterile technique and printing technique. I don't see the aggressive streaking to be the cause of contamination.

However on the topic of sterile technique I do see something like going in at an angle which would allow in contaminates from your hands, or opening the petri in a way which contaminates could fall onto the plate being a potential vector here. Additionally be sure you are using iso on your gloves while working.

In regards to printing technique, are you printing in a still air box? Best to eliminate as much exposure to dust as possible. You also want to consider that foil is relatively clean, particularly the inside portion that isnt exposed on the outer roll. You need to lay foil this side up when printing, then fold the foil over top of the caps. This will minimize the exposure to contaminates.

Here's a great Tek thats worth making use of Spore printing tek

If you take these items into consideration, you'll see a much better outcome with your germ plates.

Hang in there friend, we are gonna help get those plates nice and tidy:hug::mushroom2:
