This is all the photos that I’ll upload now from the F1. I’m working on the F2 but I’ve been slacking on myco work dude to some health issues and other things in life. I’ll upload the little write up I made on inat and that will be it for today. I’ll get on the myco work this week and get some things to grain.

These semilanceata have been cultivated from the spores of my summer 2024 collection.

The first flush are those really weird looking straggly fruits because they fruited without a cold shock at around 18-20c - 64-68f and I was talking to another talented cultivator that said he experienced similar fruit abnormalities when he fruited another species in the section at a similar temp range.
Substrate was coir, vermiculite, peat moss, straw pellets and some bentonite clay powder for minerals. I used 5ml LC for 1 quart jar of NSNS millet and spawned them just like you would most other cultivated psilocybe.

First casing was 50/50 peat moss and vermiculite as you can see it ate clean through that casing and I also think the “lack” of casing affected how they fruited too. So I re cased with a peat based compost called Dorman and Walsh and sowed 100% agrostis tenuis seeds on top for added microclimate retention at the surface. I then put them back in the Martha tent for the first flush that gave me somewhat normal looking fruits.

I used agrostis tenuis as it’s the most common grass in my area and when the cake is spent, I plan on burying them back up the mountain that gave me the specimens to work with in the first place.

After the first flush of proper fruits I harvested, swabbed and cloned them. I didn’t think they were even producing spores so I streaked a plate anyway and lo and behold BAM! We have germination from the F1 spores.

After this the tub was put outside in my greenhouse for the future flushes which are the much bigger, more normal looking fruits with actual papilla and some visible spore formation.

I will post more photos as the tub progresses and how they look today also.

I have been keeping a log of this grow to upload when I have compiled all my photos and videos on this subject as I would really like to make these a more commonly cultivated species of around the world and a lot less intimidating for people to attempt.

This is the small write up I made on my inat.

The variety of phenotypes always amazes me and I'm glad you got spores out of these pale gills.

Thanks for sharing mate.

Can I get a spawn check?
My last attempt was hard-boiled in an outdoor propagator 24 hrs after spawning. I was unaware that some temp record was due for that day :crankey:

Now I want to just tuck in some small jars in the sect Zapo FC and see what they'll do during winter. This was inoculated four weeks ago.

It's so whispy and patchy that I'd love to have a pair of more experienced eyes look at it.

Would you say your jars are fully colonized? Can't see any mycelium apart from the denser patches. FWIW I had some jars colonized by mycelium that
looked more like smoke but it is a while ago now and I can't remember if these were performing well.

Judging from old photos semilanceata mycelium is similar looking to pan bisporus as the closest comparison from what I have worked with.

Hope someone with more recent examples can chime in.

I'm keen on taking them for another spin and will start from dried out pucks and LC.

:takingnotes:

No, not fully colonized. I suck at taking pics but there is very faint growth apart from the denser spots. It took all this time to get there, so I don't think there's some intertwined mold. Or it's a really slow one...

Similar to bispo. Thanks. That's a frame of reference I can work with.

The last attempt didn't look really colonized too, but I let it consolidate for over a month, so I felt confident it was indeed colonized.

Canary seeds dried out before the jar was colonized so this is all I got on grains.

Here are some AIO's.

This thread always makes me so envious. This year I hope to find a couple good specimens for spore prints and see what I can do, but I'm ages away from any sort of results. I look forward to the project though!

Thank you dude very much appreciate it🙏🏼 I’m getting some proper work done tomorrow so hopefully I’ll have some results to share from the F2 by the end of the year🤞🏼
