Deformed mushies... [pix]
    #3197761 - 09/29/04 11:48 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Some of the shrooms in my poorman's pod seem to hollow out and get a withered stem usually after they grow more than 3 inches or so.

Can't be a humidity problem, as it's in a pod. Could it possibly be too much water? Just using distilled water in hydroton with a small amount of H2O2, BRF cakes.

Another Deformity problem: A Casing of EQ has a lot of Short, stubby mushes whos Caps Flip up (as if they had matured and were ready to sporulate) before they get even an inch high, %70 of all the mushes are like this. What could have caused it?
Kronny i had that problem too one time i thought it might have been cause it was on an old Casing that was "abused" lets say. It was also a second flush and i haven't reached a third on any casing yet..

I think we need some expert advice on this subject. I am curious as to what might cause this before fruiting begins.

I too have had a large percentage of mine with convoluted/deformed caps. I am unaware of the source of the problem. Although, In my case I think i have somewhat narrowed it down.

1) too much lysol or other chemical in either, the growing environment, or from not wiping these chemicals off of tools and containers when making the casing.

2) genetic degeneration.

Once again, I am not sure about this, but I have tried to figure it out in the past. I would really appreciate it if someone with more experience could help determine the answer to this question.

not a problem... it is just how they grow... try growing on dung if and picking early if you want solid tree like shrooms... or grow penis envys

Well if that's how they grow, then how come I have some of the same strain (GT), same cake substrate right next to eachother and the mushie on that one looks superior?

The big bajoonga on the end there I think was the biggest, I can find no reason for it other than it being the only cake ear the air hole for the hose to feed in...but why should that matter if fresh air is coming in thru the filter in the middle?

Somebody please give me a logical explaination for this deformity, cuz after my deformed shrooms dry out they are all withered and dry, but the healthy ones stay big and hearty after drying.

I'll ask again can too much water be a problem? The deformed ones in that pic may have been to close to water or actually IN the water....I dunno.

Nope no cloning....this is my first grow.

Also it really hasn't been going that bad at all I got like 16 grams dried from about 4 days of fruits from 3 different cakes I think, maybe a couple from another. Picked the deformers and the big budddy today also, thems are dryin now.

Man I don't want to have to mess with poo, for real. I make enough mest with verm, perlite and brf all over the place, I really don't need anymore 'shit' in my house!

I'm gonna try a casing soon and see if I get the same results.

Well, i used to pasturize using water, but now i checked out the oven tek, and it is so freakin easy, poop is not what everyone thinks, at first i was sketchy, but once i did it, theres no turning back, if not poo, try straw, but definitly use the oven tek listed here. Good luck.

thats from water.

water fucks up mushrooms bad. thats why theres a drip guard in the PMP setup. do casings. ive had great results with dcasings, and terrible results with just cakes.

Those deformities are not the sole cause of water, in nature, mushrooms get wet, from grass around them, rain, all sorts of things, and water drips on my bulk casings and does not deform them like that, but i think he should just experiment and learnt he same way everyone else has, to try it.

Okay this isn't about deformities, I'm just curious. It looks like your using hydro rocks. I'm sure you use a bubbler, I want to know how to set up a grow like this.
