Too much emotion during trips? * 2
    #29692973 -

I only did a few trips so far and all of them were quite emotional. I have had multiple sobbing sessions during each trip. I'm not a sobbing kind of person normally and I'm not in a bad episode of my life. No depression, no anxiety, but of course I have my challenges (family member died couple years ago, passing of time, etc). I always take each trip seriously, preparing for it with intention, lying in bed in darkness with music. The music is a mixture of emotional songs (piano, etc) and electronic "trippy" music.

The reason I'm asking is that it seems that a lot of people are getting the funny, interesting, and weird parts, not so much sad sobbing.

Is this a personal thing, or do people generally avoid getting deep into their feelings (doubt it), or they just don't write about it?

that is also normal. many users here have reported strong emotional catharsis during trips. if you aren't normally the sort of person to cry, it could be expected that you have some emotional debt that comes out during your trips. ESPECIALLY with unaddressed grief. don't beat yourself up or feel like you aren't doing it right, you absolutely are.

it's possible that some people exclude mentioning this aspect of their trips, but i see it often enough that i wouldn't call it uncommon in the slightest. it's a very emotional drug, in any direction you are inclined.

Very few people are going to get on the internet and talk about how the mushrooms showed them a unique perspective on their dad abusing them. Much easier to talk about the cool hallucinations. I cry probably 80% of the time, usually near the beginning when the emotional turbulence is high.

Trips most of the time are 90% emotion/mental and 10% visual.

Before we tripped we kinda expected something like this:

Almost no one is that chill during much of the trip. At that level of visuals you will be bawling your eyes out and laughing like a maniac, are ropped apart by childhood memories seen in a new light connected with other experiences, bargained with a Demon, met God, had the experience of dying on all levels, "plunged into Hell and soared Angelic".

Its super emotional, super mental, and oh yes, also inbetween that the most awesome visuals on this side of cardiac arrest, which most of the time you can't fully appreciate because the :dizope: in your mind has center stage.

Similar for me too. It seems to work the same as in real life: if you "cry yourself out," the tension goes out, and you feel lighter and less affected by those emotions afterward.

Very true. In my last and strongest trip, I was thinking that the videos can only show the part of tripping that they can actually show: the visuals. That's why it's really hard to explain to someone how it feels, that the colorful fractals are the least interesting thing you can experience.

I also find it funny that I can "see" an abstract thing, laugh at the music, and sob because of an unnamed feeling at the same time

i think how tv shows and movies try to portray weed is a more realistic expectation of what shrooms is really like to someone who never tried them

The visuals are important too, just that emotions and contextual thoughts are synesthetically connected to them.
