Is it safe to take Acid or magic mushrooms with Ativan the benzo?

hey guys i was just wondering is it safe to take Ativan the benzo pill with psychedelic drugs such as acid magic mushrooms 2c-e and so on?

Not a doctor so I can't say if it is safe or not. From what I have read it would lessen the experience.

1) benzos are "trip killers"

2) Ativan in particular has its own risks of amnesia due to how memories form after you take it. I've no proof but I would imagine since shrooms have their own seperate effect on memory coding you could end up blacking out for an extended period if you mix the two. Which is beyond acceptable levels of danger, in my opinion.

The trip just wouldn't happen, is my best guess.

One might take Ativan to end a trip.

I don't have experience with Ativan directly, but I do make a habit of keeping 10mg diazepam (aka Valium) tablets on hand when I trip.  I've never had to use them as a trip-abort, but half of the time I will take a dose after I've come down, to settle me in to sleep, as I might otherwise remain too mentally stimulated to bring my body and mind to easy rest.

I also make sure I keep a benzo on hand when tripping with friends, particularly in public spaces, in the event anything goes sideways and anyone might want to tone down the otherwise excited mental shift that psychedelics tend to manifest.

So while I can't speak to the memory assumptions noted above, I can affirm what all of the other participants stated with regard to the universal notation that benzodiazepine class drugs generally serve to reduce the intensity of a psychedelic experience.

Depends.

If you would provide a layout of your general condition(s). The dosages you take for the substances you've listed in the original post. Especially the length of time where you've either been taking ativan as prescribed or not.
(e.g., 'I take it once daily PRN'. Or, 'I take it 2 x daily every day and have for the last month in the form of 1mg tablets).

Then I could surmise a general idea as to how the combo of psychoactive substances is likely to pan out - in terms of the psychedelic aspects to your experience - when that those substances are combined in the proportions specific to the dosages you take them at with any regularity and so on; with respect to your natural tolerances to them, and your general physiological condition(s) etc.

I keep benzos in the cupboard as a safety net. As has been reported above, benzodiazepam are a traditional trip killer. In the uk I believe if you ended up psychotic in a hospital ward that they would administer 20mg. I keep Valium and bensedin. Unfortunately I found out a cou0le of years ago that they are a lovely way to end an acid trip: I have dogs which require timed medication, so I generally take 10mg at midnight so I can be up at eight for the dogs. The negative to this, even though I do not take benzos any other time, is that I found myself still getting dependant on them. I have weaned myself off now, after weeks of high anxiety and sleep disruption. I’ve moved my Friday night trip to Saturday daytime. Jesus people, taking benzos to end an acid trip, I never realised until a couple of weeks ago how long it lasts. 100ug at 9:40am, the trip went on until almost ten pm.
