Long term effects of the magic mushroom?

Anyone here know of any long term effects of shrooms? What damage to your body/brain do they cause? I looked online but couldn't find a resource with any studies about this sort of thing. Anyone here know? Thanks.

As far as I know there is no permanent damage unlike E which depletes serotonin, shrooms just kinda mimic it by latching onto the actual serotonin I think. People said LSD caused gene damage but that was horse shit created by the government. The damage or the positive effects depending on how you look at it will be more than likely done psychologically.
however, there are some long term rare effects such as flashbacks and Post Hallucinogenic Perceptual Disorder (HPPD). these are rare but do happen. A friend of mine got HPPD when we were both in the eigth grade. he's had it since and I am a college junior. ruined his life completely and sent him into a downward spiral of depression. he permanently sees tracers. doctors don't know if it to be psychological or physical, either way he's the one getting the effects. this is a rare disorder and mainly occurs with LSD users but he loved mushrooms and this is what happened after a trip session

Thanks for the info YellowSub. Sorry to hear about your friend. Was he a heavy user of acid... how much? That is the risk you take, I suppose. Kinda scary, but knowing what the effects could be, in my opinion, are important in making the decision to use these types of drugs. Now, speeding up the aging process... that sounds odd, what's your source?

The speeding up the aging process is fucking bullshit to begin with. IN relation to my friend it wasn't acid but shrooms he was doing. He wasn't a heavy shroom user however.
he took a high dose however

Don't let anybody let you think shrooms won't change you.

I don't think HPPD is more common with LSD. I think LSD works very similar to psilocybin. And I don't know why doctors seem to think theres a difference between psychological and physical, because ultimately it is physical. Do research at www.erowid.org, you will also find a link to a site on HPPD if you look around.

Do we know the chance of HPPD occuring if you take psychedelics? Is it about the same probability as choking to death on a cabbage leaf?

It makes your brain bleed! As far as I understand mushrooms don't have any real long term side effects. There are people I know who get 90's in school and use mushrooms so there shouldn't be anything wrong with them. Only thing they can cause is a pimple or two if you eat a lot of them because there is a lot of iodine in all mushrooms.

Chances of getting HPPD are pretty slim. And yes, it is a proven fact that you are more likely to get it while taking LSD. The chances though are around 1:500,000 I believe.
it doesn't matter if you get good grades or bad grades, there are long term effects and side effects to everything

If you are really concerned, go to dancesafe.org, look up LSD in Drug info, scroll down and hit up the link for HPPD. It will tell you all about it.

The real problem is the long-term effect of aging itself.
By the age of 25, as a male, you're well past your sexual prime.
At 30, your gums begin to recede.
By 35, you go up a full neck size, e.g. from 16 1/2 to 17 1/2.
At 40, the angle of your erect penis goes closer to horizontal, and the distance of your shot diminishes significantly.
By 45, you've become a fat pig unless doing some form of (gasp!) exercise, unless you got lucky genes or aren't with a steady babe.
At 50, your pecker begins to recede (if you can still see it past that gut), and your balls distend lower, eventually having to be tucked into your socks,
At 60, a good bowel movement becomes comparable to the act of physical love in terms of total satisfaction. During more difficult attempts, you may be tempted to break out the shrimp forks.
At 70, the hair coming out of your ears and nose is so thick people mistake you for Yoda.
By 80, strange things are happening to all the outlying body parts, like hair, toenails; your willy hasn't been seen since February and resembles a bloated white sea slug, you fart round the clock and with great rancor, and having sex is like trying to put a steamed clam into a slot machine.
In your 90s, my current age, you start hanging around Shroomery message boards, and a Petula Clark or Melanie tune can get your Depends all squishy.
**************
All the above can be completely prevented through a regular diet of Frosted Mini-Wheats, ginseng, vitamin C, dank chronic nuggies, soiled panties, and at least 3 gms of dried p. cubensis conumed no less than quarterly.
