I get the feeling that no matter what I write, I'm going to run into some conflictā€¦

I don't think I need to justify anything I've said with my personal history ā€” at this point I don't think it matters. And looking at the dynamic, I don't think any other opinion with a similar "optimistic" focus would fare any better.

I simply found this direction for facing the adversities I've encountered, encounter, and will encounter on my path. And I'll keep holding my position ā€” as long as it brings joy to my life and to the lives of the people around me.

Those who don't want to smile ā€” don't smile. In the end I couldn't care less, it's not my life, and we don't have to put up with each other's faces daily. I'll keep smiling, enjoying ice creams and paying for surprise coffees ā€” because I believe the overall picture is made up of these small details.

And regarding unsolicited advice ā€” Beef, I'm not going to ask permission to share my opinion on a public forum.

Eh anyway. I kind of tapped out yesterday, it's a convo that disturbs a little. There's always someone... I don't blame anyone for doing something that works for them, but the idea that grieving is some kind of choice is, to me, pretty absurd and well, just saddening. It carries echos of when I was a kid and adults would say: chin up, boy. Sun's shining, just smile! The more you smile, the more natural it'll come!

Yeah dude, I carried my dead sister around, trying to fix something that couldn't be, until they took her from me, now you do that for a couple hrs and then smile and tell a good fart joke. And I'll award you this tinfoil medal for being a dick.

Good to see you again Rasmo! Sounds like a blast. And I know that feeling. Once the right crew has assembled itself, it's hard to go back to hyperindividualistic life. You can really feel in your bones that we are social animals and function very good in groups. A large part of our festival crew decided to go live together in a squat and they are one of the most stable communities I know. 'Best camp ever' in a pretty literal sense. If I didn't have kids I'd join them.

Man, I feel I may have started this list of people discussing trauma. When I was reading through the thread, i went a little deep into my head. Iā€™m sorry about that. I felt maybe I fucked up. Maybe I shouldnā€™t have said anything. Maybe I should keep my shit to myself. Maybe I should grab my dick and remember that Iā€™m alive.

Hereā€™s the fucking thing, though. I know Iā€™m alive. And sometimes, that fucking sucks, and sometimes it hurts, and sometimes itā€™s awesome.

Mushboyā€™s post of the Lego reminded me of fun times. So Iā€™m gonna drop a lot of bucks on that bitch, and when I put it together, Iā€™ll post it in the cult pic of the day thread and fuck anyone who gives me shit for it. Lol. So Mushboy, thanks for that, homie.

Iā€™ve been through a lot of shit. So have many of all of you. But we are a band of resilient individuals and we will not give up. Or we probably wouldnā€™t have made it here in the first place. The crux is this:


You have no idea whether or not we smile because you have no idea who we are nor do you seem to have any interest in knowing us.  I personally do smile and laugh--a lot, and i know many of these peope personally and i can assure you, their laughter is infectious. Im known to laugh all day every day.  But you wouldnt know that. 

Seems you would rather make assumptions and assessments about who we are as people and thats the part that rubs everyone wrong.  You think we dont know the shit youre telling us?  Do you think we dont smile?

You think we didnt study Nietzsche too?  like do you really think we all havent read The Body Keeps the score? (Twice) you think we dont exercise, make art, music, and write?

I mean to ask, do you really think youre helping? But most importanty, do you really think anyone asked for your help?

Look man, like I said.  Youre hearts in the right place but I think youve made a couple critical mistakes in your assessments.  You dont know us.  You dont understand us . You dont seem to understand the reason we all gather here and share stories of loss and relate to eachother. 

You seem more interested in evaluating everyone and inserting your opinions more than actually understanding anyone or getting to know us so your "hugs" seem disingenuous. Keep them. 

Heres some advice you didnt ask for: You actually have options.  You could for example, just not say anything. If you feel like what you're about to say might upset or annoy someone, consider leaving it unsaid.  OR, and hear me out, you could simply find another thread that has discussions more to your liking rather than trying to police the discussion here. You could actually ignore me, and you wouldn't need to see the entire thread. For the record, I agree you don't need to justify anything you've said. I appreciate you participating and you do not need my permission to share your opinions just as I don't need yours.

That wasn't directed at you, Belintaf. It was directed at the people who told me that shit when I was six years old.

Just trying to say that you cannot judge stuff you haven't experienced personally, that isn't your perspective, to keep Nietzsche at hand. People honestly say these things. "Wow, your bud killed himself, that's weird, man. Was he on drugs or something?"

They should rather shut up, that's more helpful. And you did the thing too. "Get your ass of the couch" is a judgement, not a real assessment of a situation, let alone a helpful remark. For me, personally, I have a couch because the kids wanted one. My wife uses it, too. Feeling pain for someone doesn't necessarily make you vegetative.

Now I'm going back to dancing in the sawdust while I make deco.

Ya man. I just finished a marathon season.  This is officially my first real day off since around june. I stacked checks for months to get here. Heading up to the faaaaar northeast. Getting me some woods time. no flock cams.  Get me some silence. I've been going pretty hard on cubes but I think when i get back, I'm gonna take MojaveMyc up on his offer to teach me pans. Time for something different, ya know?
