PF tek shelf stability

Hello shroomery

I’m about to do my first pf tek run, but i don’t have enough culture for all the jars i’ve got as I greatly underestimated the amount of brf/verm mixture I’d make from the recipe. I am curious if these jars are shelf stable and if so how long they can last before inoculation.

I've kept them for months without issue. The catch is they can dry out- so in my case I leave the foil on and rubber-band it the instant the PC gets opened. I know some folks frown on leaving the foil as there is always some moisture under and it could go moldy, but sealing with a rubber band while still sterile I've never had an issue.

I generally noc em up a day after I make em, I've had em sit on the shelf for 2 weeks before tho with no issues.

The typically issue I run into with "storing" processed PF jars is that they will dry out over a course of several weeks. So keeping them around until use is generally a bad idea because of the drying-out effect. Id say about 1-2 weeks max shelf life in my experience.
