Also I've been doing more plates in the background and have made some *really* good looking growth. THese are defenitly better than the ones I've had before and I should probably put these to spawn of LC.

Pretty sure the jars I thought would be winners have been contaminated. Will check the tam forum to see what they say.

I've already read into the forum about the types of tams you can get and it appears to be some of the baterial types. Stalled growth, untouched grains despite it being one and a half months at this point, a distinctive ' oily weeping ' on the sides of the jar that does not appear to be any sort of water. Not to mention the oddly diagonal growth pattern. Clear signs it's tam.

I need to research this more, but is it possible to save the growth itself by transferring an uncontaminated piece of grain to agar and letting it sprout from there?

Also, what would the viability be of opening the jar and letting it get some FAE? I feel like that would throw tam all throughout my crib. But the tam is all the way at the bottom of the jars. Though I don't think that would matter much, no? :I

Kind of at a loss right now for those jars, I lost one of my new set of them to tam (some black hair looking shit) and chunked that. I'm thining of digging up a spot at a nearby park or some sort of random green spot and seeing if they shroom up in the coming years.

Thoughts over. Back to waiting and ogling at jars.

You can grab a grain and put it to a plate, probably need to clean it up, but most of the time it should work fine, bacteria is easier to clean up then mold in my experience.

You can also try to top fruit the jars to get a fruit to print and/or clone. Put and inch of coir on top of the grains and a zip bag with some holes on top.

Interesting, I wouldn't think a plastic bag with holes and an inch or coir would be necessary though... wouldn't just opening the jar lid be enough to make the mycelium start fruiting due to the air movement alone? Or does that serve another purpose?

Also, fruiting areas that aren't contaminated don't run the risk of spreading an infection to the rest of my house? I know it's bacteria and not mold, but I still worry about the risk of fruiting the jars themselves due to that.

But I'll give this a shot and see where it gets me, I wouldn't mind making my first spore print and trying out some of the product from my first ' grow ' while my other batch of jars do their thing in the background. Thanks for the idea!

Hey all, I'm still alive. This just took a backseat due to life stuff, but now I'm getting back to it.  A lot has happened.

1: Found out why my jars are getting contaminated, they're too wet when I put the oats in. Next time I prep them (likely the next 2 weeks to a month depending on how my recent plate batch goes) I'll let them cool down for about a day or so before I put them in jars and PC them. Hopefully that run will be better.

2: Most of my agar got contaminated, idk how, but some sort of red mold got in and tam'd a majority of my plates. However, my GT culutre didn't get tam'd up, so I decided to propogate that for now. I'll focus on this one for a while and keep it going instead of having a bunch of different cultures going so I don't get too scatterbrained.

3: I 'noc'd four LC jars, 'm hoping they turn out well.

4: I had a fucking weevil infestation because of my oats. It's a long story I'm willing to answer in DMs, however my *GOD* there was a lot of them. Because of that I ended up getting a dedicated oat container that I filled to the brim with diatomaceous earth to make sure weevils don't pop up back in there again. It got into my pantry as well and I did a similar thing for my food. I'll keep this in mind going forward.

Great to be back here lol, I think recent life eventsa re a sign from the universe to lock in on this instead of school. At least before I get back to school.
