No worries (and Welcome), we've all been the new guy at one time or another, words of wisdom, follow someone's work to the letter, no venturing off doing your own thing, not in the beginning, later when you have a stranglehold on cubes, do what you like, grow them in bags, coffee cans, whatever, but I would start with a PC, get some grain, and eventually cheap 6 or 12qt tubs, they last a long time. I have a few cracked, but tape is your friend, I'll work them until the END.  The tubs work for more than just mushroom cultivation, I use them for trimming trays, worm farming, mixing sub, multi-purpose... and all sorts of uses.  I hope you stick with it, the thrill of success... IS worth it.

Hi everyone and thank you. I'm not new to the forum: you helped me making some monotubs, than i had to stop with my hobby (my passion) for a while, but i found a new place where magic can grow so i'll be all day bothering you in the 'ask quick questions, get quick answers' thread again.

Thanks!!

So... welcome back, Widepupils.

Taking a break is often a good thing. More often than not, it lets you come back with a fresh perspective.

Good luck, and see you around!

Hugs

Hi!

I have been lurking in the forums for a while now, reading about trip reports and mushroom cultivation. I was introduced to psychedelics last year and decided that it was time for me to grow them on my own.

I've only ever grown oysters from grow kits, but last year I joined a mycology enthusiast group and have since joined foraging groups - but have been unable to find mushrooms. Small note, in one of these adventures I followed an old couple. The man would stray off the trail and come back with a mushroom each time, and I told him how do you know there was one? He is a mycologist, apparently. I was fascinated by his skills. I wanted to forage more and know enough to distinguish safe to eat mushrooms (and berries) in the wild. During one of these foraging events, I was given a few psychedelic mushrooms to try. The experiences were meaningful, even though it feels like it counted more like microdosing.

Partly due to changing into a vegetarian diet, I got more interested in gourmet mushrooms. Being with expert foragers opened my world to garlicky mushrooms, peppery mushrooms, shrimpy mushrooms - and here I thought I was so cultured being familiar with the mushrooms used in Japanese cuisine. There's a lot more in between but for brevity, over the course of the last few months I grew a desire to grow psychedelic mushrooms.

I'm currently taking care of a monotub of Golden Teachers. In my folly I also have liquid cultures of APE and two other cubensis strains. I thought you could grow them like plants, but apparently not. I was told I wouldn't need that many cubes if I just wanted them for myself. Oh well, we're here now and we can't stop here.

I am enjoying myself but now that I have three monotubs I will probably work on setting up to make some gourmet mushrooms within the next few months.

Thank you to everyone, from 10 years ago (probably more) up to this day. Finding this forum has been godsend.

Well it appears the cows in the field behind my property have been removed and the field is overgrown now. I do wonder if it has been abandoned at this point as with all the rain recently there should be something out there. The cow patties appear to be old, but they're still out there.

But anyway, I guess the only way to get some more mushrooms now is to get growing so.. hi

Welcome! Is it a 23qt Presto, or other? Congratulations on your decision to learn agar. Will you construct an SAB, or use a flow hood?

Howdy fid! I got a good deal on a 16qt Presto.

I already constructed a deformed SAB when I knocked up two, 2lbs AIO "magic bags" last week. Yeah, I know, I know but I was itching to get back lol Gonna follow Pastywhyte's Easy Agar Tek.
