The bulk substrate is going to be a masters mix ; 50% hardwood saw dust 50% soy hulls

that sounds like too much supplementation, i think its more like 15%, but i dont have any experience supplementing.

50:50 is right for soybean hulls.

A supplement block can get by with 2-5% spawn rate ime. It's not about the grains either. If you can make high quality sawdust spawn you can use that in supplemented blocks at the same low rate with excellent yield

For a long time I was using 1 pint jar of spawn per 5lb bag, but I took the advice of a knowledgeable person here on this site and began using the grain spawn itself as the only supplement.
This cuts way down on variables like sources for contams or reasons for failure to fruit, etc.
So, I began using 2 quart jars of spawn per 5lbs of hardwood pellet substrate, and the results were great. However, that uses up a lot of rye berries, so now I use 1 quart per bag.
More means faster colonization.

I used 1 pint of pink mushroom grain spawn to 5 pound bag w/50% hardwood pellets and 50% soy hulls by  weight and it is colonizing so fast I believe I almost see it growing. So this is going toe my formula from now on.
