or you could bath in it, i hear it's good for the skin!! ha ha..

no really.. 10 lbs of spawn.. holy shit man!! you could fruit them from the jars! or case them in a huge rubber maid container or with straw.. or all the above and make an experiment then report what worked best!!

Since it sounds like you will need a pretty large amount of straw,you DO know that you dont need to pc it right? Pastuerization is adaqaute.

i use the pillowcase method and hang it in my shower.

Which oyster strain is it exactly? What spawn to substrate ratio were you planning on going with? I mean, you could literally go out and buy 100lbs of straw!

One word of warning about doing this indoors.....if you let the oysters go until the produce spores, you'll find you'll have spores EVERYWHERE. Including up your nose. Are you prepared for releasing this many oysters spores into your enivironment? :wink:

You know, if you were feeling generous....I'm sure there are people here who'd gladly send you some dollars in return for shipping them, say, 1/2lb of spawn.

If your spawn is in multiple bags you can keep them in a fridge and use one bag per time. If you inoculate all at the same time, you will have hard time to eat all the oysters!  :smile:

Yeah, US$13 for 20ft of plastiic is such a bargain :wink:

The 500ft rolls are slightly more reasonable...but there seems to be nothing in between.

Anyways, there's no real need for translucent bags (apart from the ability to be able to judge colonization, but you can dead reckon that or peek inside)....so why not just use garbage bags? The orange bags they wll up here for raking your leaves into are entirely suitable.
