Hello, new guy again

Hello, trying a first grow. See my other thread here, where I explain whats going on and how I did it.  https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/29625278#29625278

Anyways, to make a long story short, I used a sterilized grain/bulk mix from Midewest Grow kits, and injected a spore syringe of penis envy. I did this around June 5th.  Around June 20th, (I think I made a mistake here) the grain portion was about 50-60% colonized, and I did a break and shake, and mixed it right into a mono tub with more bulk media and a thin layer of bulk on top (1/2")

So since June 20th, its been doing its thing in the mono tub.  Does this look like a normal amount of growth in a month, considering I may have made a bad choice on when to break and shake.  I mist it daily, and have pulled the air blocker plugs and changed to the air filter ones back on day one on June 20 when I went to the monotub.  Probably a mistake too.  The last 10-12 days or so, I have been adding 12 hrs of light at night on top. 

Heres a current pic, from right now.  How am I looking?  When do you think I might expect some pinning/fruiting?  I use this little digital humidity monitor taped to the air filter, it stays around 80%.  If I put it inside it just maxes out at 99%







Hows this looking according to my timeline?  Can I expect some pins/fruit soon? This is penis envy.  The white areas on the surface are thick and hard and almost feel like/look like calcium deposits or some kinda mineral deposits, but I know they arent...lol.

Initial start: 6/5
Break and shake and transfer to monotub 6/20 and added airflow
providing light at night since 7/10

You're growing a solid crop of mold and bacteria. It was probably fucked by shooting spores directly to a bag but especially fucked by spawning it before full colonization. It has to be fully colonized or else competing molds will take advantage of the free food.

Toss that out and start over

Aww man, seriously?  How can you tell?  There's nothing worth trying to let this grow out a while and see what happens?

Are you judging that from my flawed technique? Or from looking at the pics?

I think I'm still gonna let it grow out and see what happens, but now Im bummed out...lol.

Wouldn't it become a health hazard if you keep growing it? I would not like to have those spores flying around in my home.

This will be complete green over the next days.
Take it outside and dump it,
the liner is of good use here.
Clean the tub with soap and hot water.
Grain bags + Syringe = Playing roulette
Unless you do PFTek
you´ll have a hard time making out a contam vector,
as you don´t know about the sterility of the bags,
neither about the cleanliness of the syringe.
That´s why we use agar,
we clean up and collect healthy axenic mycelium.
Rethink your whole process and have a read here.

Well….shit.  That’s a big bummer and a month and a half down the tubes….  I started a second grow bag with another syringe because I bought a few before coming to this site.  Maybe the roulette wheel will spin in my favor on this one….

Another dumb question…if you get some mold in the crop can the non moldy parts be salvaged?  I mean I cut mold off cheese and eat the rest of it, or cut the moldy parts out of potatoes sometimes…I’m sure I’ve eaten many moly things over the years….last week I ate half a sub sandwich before I realized the bottom had mold spots all over it…haha.

you can eat the mushrooms if they dont have mold on them. if yorue talking about saving your tub or grow, no its toast. the mold wiill take over ocmpletely in 24-48 hrs so harvest what you can now, as soon as you spot it is the right time. garbage.

If it’s moldy toss the tub. Mold spores will undoubtedly spread when you try to remove a portion of the substrate. Make sure your grain spawn is 100% colonized before mixing with your substrate. Also, make sure your substrate is at field capacity before adding grain spawn.

If you need some guidance as a noob, I highly recommend RogerRabbits expert advice. You can download a set of awesome mycology videos at mushroom videos.com. I believe the price is $8.99. You can also view lots of his material for free on YouTube. Just search Marc Kieth mushroom videos.

Cool thanks.  Checked on my tub again and it’s starting to smell kinda sweet/sour so I guess I will toss it Saturday when nobodies home to ask any questions…. It has so much healthy looking mycelium in it though it breaks my heart.
