The Simpsons Appreciation Thread * 3
    #29622590 -

This sums up my life sometimes. Sometimes I just poke the baby just to cause drama for myself.

I think The Simpsons is one of the most intelligent tv shows ever made. More so the older stuff up into the 2000s. There are so many episodes that I loved to bits and that stick with me. I still get scared when Mr Burns runs out of the forest all green and alien.

Post here your favourite parts!

My mum feels guilty having let my brother watch it as a kid. She says that he didn't have a super present dad and all the male characters in The Simpsons, which we watched nightly, are poor representations of men. If she only stepped back and saw that that's exactly what every kid of me and my bros generation was watching she'd know that she's not at fault. It's just a cultural thing.

I love the older Simpsons seasons! I still have Season 5 on DVD — my mom bought it for me when it first came out. I’ll always cherish that gift.

If I had to pick a favorite I’d go with Homer. I also love Dr Nick

Homer rules. To be honest he's probably my actual fave.

What's your fave episode?
I like the space one where he goes into space and breaks the ant glass lol

I used to watch the choppy Simpson's when it was introduced on the Tracy Ullman show, hidden under my blanket so I wouldn't get caught. It was on at either 9:30 or 10pm. I don't recall.

Back then, it felt more relevant than my reality at the time. The characters were hyperbole representations of what I was witnessing around me.

Some of my faves are from the Halloween specials. One in particular seems relevant to today is when their smart home tech falls in love with Marge and tries to murder Homer. That was written almost 20 years ago.

The show has become a highly intuitive shadow representation of humanity in a fkd up way.

Haha I was just talking about the Simpsons to my friend who said she really doesn't like the treehouse specials. I was gobsmacked. She said they were silly and I said that's the point

That’s a great episode! I’m not sure I have a favorite but the first one to pop into my mind was the monorail episode.

Omg the animation on that clip, with homer slowly having a smile and just being all affectionate to random aggressive animals. Fucking hell I'm Homer Simpson that's something I do lol 😂 love it.

I'm gonna go and watch it start to finish I think it's on Disney although I might try buy a box set

 sounds like we have something in common! I like to think they're just scared animals that need some love. Or better yet, WWHD - what would Homer do?

I vote box set, that way you can display it and still enjoy the art and memories when you aren't watching it.

I absolutely support this, but before you buy a DVD player, do you happen to have any kind of video game system from PS2 on up in the house? Most of them can play DVDs.

South Park is hilariously consistent . I'm behind a few seasons and need to catch back up.

I remember watching this family guy episode on TV when it aired. Such good memories 🥲

lol nice the simpsons rules. I once a year re up my sub for Disney and watch the first 10 seasons or so. I just recently went and watched some stand up at the local club and one of the writers from that era was there. I forget his name but he was pretty decent on the mic.
