Hey, nice post.. I actually see some of the stuff I listen to in there. Most of the people that I talk to about my music have never even heard of the bands. My collection is mostly of euro metal bands.. I would have to say that I favor melodic, death and black metal, but there are always good and bad in almost any category.

Oh and what about cradle of filth? I love those guys.. At first I didn't like the majority of it. Only a few songs but after getting used to those vocals, I began to really like them. Now it is one of my top favorites.

Haha, Black Dahlia Murder! They are intense, picked up their CD earlier this past summer. It is worthwhile if you really like hardcore vocals.. I really like some of the songs but i wouldn't rank them up with my favorites.

well.. at this point I've gone beyond just listing my favorites and making it an all out metal guide.. excluding the bands I don't think are worthy or have never heard yet. There's still a bunch more I'd like to add though.. Basically any metal band that I've heard before and think is worth checking out I will list. For those who have made suggestions of bands that I haven't heard yet I'm going to check those out.

I see that, was just giving my opinion on them since I have their CD in my collection. Good idea and nice work compiling that list

What about Mastadon? They got some good shit..
And Reroute to Remain for In Flames as one of their tops!!??? Thats when it all went down hill for them(one of my favs back in the day...fucking sell-outs)
Everyone to their own I guess...Good thread and great list though

Cool Dragonforce is on there, I remember back when they were called Dragonheart. I wasn't sure they had become well-known enough to show up on your list. I didn't really enjoy their second album so much though.
Some additions you might want to consider: Down Black Label Society Dredg Gamma-Ray Helloween

Never heard of them..
Re: Mastodon - Holy shit.. those guys kick ass.. I just recently heard of them a few weeks ago. I couldn't decide where to put them so I just put them under melodic death metal. Let me know if you think they should go somewhere else.
I don't think Reroute to Remain was one of In Flames top.. I just think it's better than Soundtrack to your Escape...
Wysefool - I'll add a couple of those

Thats all I can think for now.
