Problems getting pins

Hi I’ve grown before it’s been a while I seem to not be able to get any pins I’ve gotten a few but nothing like it’s supposed to be

Looks a little wet in there and the mycelium is fighting minor bacteria in places. What is your fae looking like.

I just have the lid cracked open I think I introduced them into fruiting a little early a few started growing while i was still waiting for it to colonize I have a heating pad under because it seemed to dry out extremely fast when I’d mist them

You use a heating pad,
cause misting dries out your substrate?
Please tell more about that.

But first i´d really kill that heating pad
and never use it again for mycology needs.

Yeah I’ll get rid of the heating pad when I get home it’s just been really dry in my state.I’ve been doing it in my basement and it’s not cold or anything maybe 70 or so how often do you recommend misting I mist the cake just seems to dry out rather quickly so I had the heating pad and it makes it more humid

Oh alright how would I go about fixing it I am curious what would the heating pad do? Make it too warm ?

Dries out the bottom of your tub. And if you’re misting repeatedly or even fanning, that’s messing up your surface. So you’ve got a bad top and bottom and the mushrooms don’t have a preferable surface to make pins.

If you remove the pad, trickle a cup of water down the side, and sprinkle some coir on top it might bounce back.

I don’t see mold or anything. No obvious infection.

Alright I will try that thank you so is that probably the reason it won’t like keep humidity without the heating pad because it’s too dry I tried to do it without the pad and the surface kept drying out

If your surface keeps drying out, reduce FAE. If you experience pooling, increase FAE. Simple as.

The pad is not increasing humidity it is forcing the moisture up to the surface while at the same time drying out the bottom, also, if there is a small bacterial infection the heating pad is making optimal conditions for that infection to spread as bacteria likes it warm and cozy.

Most of us start "fruiting conditions" at spawn, but with a dialed in tub that will speed up colonization without drying out the tub. I suggest having a look at the ez dial hole configuration.

Every grower will have slightly different environment where the tubs sit, but with the ez dial you can tape or open up holes as needed to dial the tub to fit your environment.

What kind of substrate did you use and at what ratio?
