Trying honey and WBS

I have decided to try the honey tek to put into the WBS, and then case it after it has colonized. This will be my first time though. What kind of water to honey ratio should i put in a jar for spore inoculation? From what i understand for a pint jar, it is just 1 tablespoon of honey and the rest water? How do I know when its ready to use? And after the honey jar has colonized, do i just sterilize a syringe, suck some of it up, and inject it into the cleaned and sterilized WBS jar?  Also are there any good kinds of casings for WBS? I was going to use a coir/verm mix, or maybe even plain verm. Thanks :rasta:

i wouldn't say that i've dreamed of great sucsess with this substrate recipe : to each pint jar add 2/3 cup wbs 1/2 cup distilled hot water with tablespoon of organic honey stirred into it throw in a pinch of gypsum let it sit overnight to germinate endospores steralize let cool then innoculate. the honey seems to speed colination up quite a bit

Get some karo syrup, its clear so you can see contams easier than with the honey. 1 teaspoon karo/100 mL distilled water, pc for 20 min's @ 15 psi. It doesn't matter what size jar you use. If you could manage to get a hold of some of those myco starter lids w/the self-sealing injection site that micron magick used to carry then those are perfect for starting a liquid culture. If not no biggie just shoot it normally through the lid and then tape over the holes. Once grown out, shake up the liquid to break up the clump of mycelia (u may want to add glass shards or something to help break it up), draw up the liquid into a sterile syringe, innoculate your birdseed, wait, pick'em.
