whats the shortest time i can soak birdseed? I usually do 24 hours, but im in a rush now. i dont want to boil because everytime i do it, i screw it up.thanks!

steep for a half hor and soak for 12 hours works great

i dont think it is ever supposed to actually boil, just simmer, that may be your prob but i haven't done anything except soak for 12-18 hours. Fee's advice sounds good to me though.

Cousin IT never soaks his and has had good luck , it is a matter of knowing how much water to add to a particular quantity of grain .
For example
Using half pint jars he puts in 1\3 cup of grain mixture (milo\millett) into the jar then adds 40 mls of water , put into PC or AC , cook for 45 min - 1 hour .
If using for injection inocs he adds one full tablespoon of grain and adds 10 mls more water this allows for really full jars that do not shake easily , but give good contact of the injection .
If using larger jars just multiply ... Pinters double this method,and so on up to gallon jars .
