WBS sucks

I'm having such a hard time with my jars of wbs. I keep boiling with lower heat and for less time and they always seem to stop grow because of too much water in the jar. This sucks and I don't think I'll use wbs again. Last batch was boiled for 20 minutes with as low heat as possible to still simmer. What am I doing wrong? Arrrg!

my friend boiled once and hates it.
Try soaking for 24 hours then drain for 30 minutes and cook it then.
WBS is great!

Are you letting them drain in a strainer while still hot? How much time are you letting them drain?

I had that problem at first but now I add about 10-15 percent vermiculite to the wbs after you drain and before loading into the jars to pc.

Yeah, I did corn first with 12-24 jars. They went slow and I thought wbs was the way to go as far as nutrients. I got lucky with the first batch of wbs and then decided to do a lot more.

yes. I think the verm gives you alot more leeway (sp.) than wbs alone for moisture content. I believe scat does this as well.

after its soaked for 24 hrs, and then strained for about 30 mins or so.. Then added to a quart jar, do I still need to add water to the quart jar, or is the absorbred water from the soaking already enough?

the water absorbed from the soaking would be enough.

try out this for 1/2 pints: 70mL wbs, 35mL h2o
i've had great success just putting that together, PCing and nocing
however, and im not sure why, but iT just doesn't seem to work well doubling the amounts for pint jars... i think it might be too little water in that application, but i got half pints down so i didn't worry about it too much
