I've tried it and the humidity is pretty high around here so it throws the water
ratio a little, it's not a method that I find works well for me, so I stick
with what does work for me, a 20 minute simmer, 2 hours of soaking with an ounce
of gypsum added to the water and a little additional added prior to sterilization
it allows the grains to absorb everything they can and the gypsum makes
shakeability easier and seems to reduce the chances of wet spot.

I strain my wbs for an hour after I simmer. Then I only scoop the top half into jars, and let the bottom half in the strainer drain another 20mins or so. Works good for me but is time consuming.

i did the same thing underhill, till i started doing it all at once

sounds like you could benefit from some verm thrown in

:smile: Thats my plan for my next batch.  I'm thinking a heaping tablespoon of verm per quart of wbs pre-PCing and I should be good to go.  I'm only on my 4th round of wbs hehe.  Messed up the first round horribly.  Second round only messed up about half of my batch, which allowed me to start trying G2G on round 3.  I also used the longer drain time on round 3 and everything went very well.  Round 4= a little verm.

exactly the same track as i, took me like 4 PC runs to get the wbs down to a 1/2 pint a minute, GL
