Look, I was actually entertaining your idea of just using desiccant in a sealed container there. Thinking about how you could, in fact, choose to ignore our warnings and proceed with that plan. Thinking about how you could make the best of that option. At the end of the day, potency issues aside, it's kind of a food safety thing. We'd be remiss if we didn't point out the potential pitfalls. If you want to listen to what AI tells you, well, knock yourself out But the snarky quotes thing kinda makes you come across like a choosy beggar.

Dehydrators use a heating element, what makes it gentle is that there's a fan blowing through it so it doesn't get all that hot. Sunlight and airflow might be able to replicate that to some extent, but I think this is something you're gonna have to game out yourself. Same with your electricity requirements. I'm pretty sure there are some options that would work for your situation, small-scale rechargeable dehydrators or dehumidifiers that employ batteries or whatever, but I'm not particularly motivated to help you sort that out given your tone. Anyway, I'm sure you're capable of doing that yourself.

I wish you the best of luck, but I'm done here. Cheers.

People were drying mushrooms and even making ice cream before electrical appliances were invented. I didn't mean to come across as snarky. But as I said before it's not a matter of choosing to ignore your advice. I have little choice but to improvise if I want to get things done. Thanks for your input!

Reading through this thread, I just want to say that I think this is a really cool idea. Even if it's not the usual way of doing things, the idea of growing mushrooms at sea is just awesome.

I have a plan for getting them properly dry. I use these disposable dehumidifiers to try to keep the dampness under control. They work reasonably well. So what I'll do is put the shrooms in a sealed container with some dehumidifiers. That should pull the moisture out of them quite well I think.

That's not going to work for you. For long term storage they need to be completely bone dry, and for that you need a dehydrator. Check out how they can feel dry but still hold a lot of moisture inside here.

It's not worth it to go through the whole process and then ruin your fruits in just 1-2 months because you didn't dehydrate them properly.

^^^ Here you have been given the correct advice. How you use that info is up to you, but don't be shocked when your improperly dried shrooms aren't worth a shit in a few months.

As for the drying, Grok 4.20 expert mode thinks it will work so it has to be at least worth a try.

AI is a moron for anything related to cultivation (or anything else really, it has been fed by the internet), but hey, you've got 'er on expert mode so you'll probably do so great that you'll be revolutionizing the concept of "cracker dry".

I reiterate my earlier advice to buy some dealer shrooms and learn PF tek, but mafackas don't listen. If you do manage to fuck around and accidentally grow a mushroom, eat that shit fresh. Or just toss it overboard... I mean, dry it like AI said to.

Whenever I ask it about mushroom cultivation Shroomery is always one of the main places it pulls information from. You can ask it specifically what views on here are.

First sign of life! Hopefully it will accelerate as the weather warms.

This is one of the two bags I inoculated initially with Z-strain. One got contaminated so won't be buying from that supplier again. I got them because they were cheap. I'm innoculating 2kg ones now from a much more reputable supplier. I have one inoculated with pe6, two with natal super strength, and I'm going to inoculate two more with ape revert.

I think I'll probably just take prints from the natal and ape for next year.

Definitely take some prints! You can use them to make your own syringes in the future (so keep your syringes, too), or use the prints for agar (if you decide to get into it).

Good luck. Hope the water is being good to you.

Thanks. 🙂

I do think I'll need agar because I don't think I'll be able to take clean prints in this environment. But also I think it will be difficult to do agar work without adding more contamination from the air. So my plan is to put my dishes, prints etc in a tub and go lock myself in a clean public disabled toilet and do it there. Whenever I need to transfer clean mycelium to another dish or to liquid culture I'll do it there. It's the cleanest environment I can easily access.

First flush!

This is one of the cheap bags I inoculated with Z strain back in march when I first started this thread. That's how long its taken to get to this stage.

Pretty pleased with how it's going! Can't wait to munch these. I have three other bigger and much better quality bags, two with Natal Super Strength and one with PE6. Those are colonising nicely and I expect to begin fruiting soon. I'm thinking I'll wrap them in black plastic to block light and discourage side pinning. I'm using elastic bands on this z strain bag as is recommended but there is still a bit of annoying side pinning. Blocking light + elastic bands should work better.

Thanks guys.

That was a pretty interesting trip I had on that 20g. I never used to get visuals on shrooms even at very high doses. Back when fresh shrooms were legal in the UK I'd get them by the kilo off eBay and just munch them all day. Sometimes my irises would be barely visible. But no visuals. During that period I did Ayahuasca once and did get fractals but never experimented with freebase I started doing that after shrooms got banned and I rarely took them after that. But recently I've been smoking dmt a lot, far more than ever before. And that 20g of shrooms did give me visuals. Moving patterns overlaying my vision. It was very similar to what I get on low dose dmt. I have heard that dmt can unlock visuals on other substances so maybe that's what's happened with me. Cool if so. Part of the reason I kept taking higher and higher doses of shrooms back then was because my experiences weren't the same as what people were talking about. I always had emotional and thought pattern changes never visuals and people were always like "oh you just need to take more".

It's still producing well. I'm finding the side pinning in the bag isn't too much of a problem. I removed the elastic bands and the substrate block seems to have shrunk a bit creating space so now they're growing up the sides.
