Re: I'm going to see a psychiatrist - will update as I go [Re: ellamush] * 1

Going back a page to the bare foot shoes, i wore skate shoes since 14 to like 35 which are flat, then I started wearing barefoot shoes, but not a good $100 pair, a $30 amazon special, I think they are called whitin or something, but I was in. a physio therapist for something and he mentioned my gait is fucked up from flat shoes and told me to buy something with arch support, I was not going back to a narrow toe box, so I bought a $130 pair of shoes that had both a wide toebox and arch support, later I found a $40 pair on amazon for diabetics that is wide and also has arch support, they are comfy too, I use the diabetic shoe as a indoor shoe, sometimes if its raining or I feel anxious I get my step count in the house, walking 5k steps in bare feet on hardwood floors is rough, but nice in the shoe

I don't know if barefoot shoes will mess everyone's steps up, or even if its just cause I bought cheap ones, but I feel better since I switched

Anyone else noticed OCD traits when they trip?

I really think the rabbit hole of psychiatry is that they are so overlapping that you start to think you have everything

The exact opposite my ocd disappears on a heavy trip. Forcefully focused on surviving the dangers when I trip. Don't increase anxiety as your body does know it's poisoned itself.

I want to work towards being more settled in life and being happy.

I don't want pills. I have started on one medication which has helped with my sleep.

Directing a question to you: why are you against psychiatry and someone asking for help?

im against most psychiatrist, they will push pills, and not really do much else, they might refer you to a cbt type group they have them and you are lucky, and i belive in the metobolic mind connection, so when these pills cause you to gain 100 pounds and develop metabolic syndrome, i dont think these pills are actually helping, and in fact are harming

most recreational drugs arnt good in my opinion either now, i took them in copious amounts and was a proponent of them, because it came close to helping and feeling normal, but really they interfere aswell temporary gain for a longterm loss, kinda like the psychiatric drugs, psychedelics are a bit different, but stimulants, opioids, weed, alcohol, benzos, tobacco and probably others im missing i think arnt good recreationally, perhaps could be used medically

This is fair. I appreciate the psychiatrist I saw as he even said what he was prescribing was simply to fix the fact I was sleeping 12+ hours a day. Now I can't if I tried

I'm with you on recreational drugs. The only ones I'm even slightly interested in are mushrooms and occasional alcohol use. Even the alcohol is just poison and whenever I take it I lose a day afterwards. Mushrooms can be helpful for the right person but not always and can be very much short term distress

Interesting updates Ella! Sounds like you are doing better.

Being a nurse with your condition(s) sounded super stressful. I can only imagine living such an intense life like that. But it sounds like you do enjoy being social, just on a smaller, low-volume, low-stress scale. I consider myself this type of social person. I need some but not too much or I become overwhelmed.

That post eariler by Who about shoes was really interesting. Have you heard of Grounding before? Its when you walk barefoot on Earth to ground your mind and body. Its a New Age practice but I swear it works. Perhaps try it out sometime? Nature has its own healing properties 😌

Keep up that inner work! It seems to be helping you

Thanks everyone

Whomanbeing. That sounds like a rough roll. I am glad to hear that you are getting on a better path from drinking. Thanks for spending your time posting on my thread

Re walking bare foot. I did that at the latest festival. When I was on mushrooms I just chose to wear socks on the dancefloor (I've seen too many people get fucked feet with no protection). It was great. I will maybe get these shoes mentioned on here for festivals and for walks i do when tripping

I appreciate everyone's messages on this thread it's been really helpful. You are all good people

Having a good therapist is really helpful. She is awesome. I drive 50 mins to see her now that I've moved.

Good for you. I just stick with my psychiatrist. They obviously don't help like therapy or a psychologist, but I don't have anything I really need help with besides my medication.

Girlfriends help. So does my therapist.@whoman, tbh I'm finding it a bit exasperating your comments. I'm okay with you expressing your opinion but constantly disagreeing with something I'm saying when it helps me is not useful. Can you please try to offer constructive advice? I appreciate your other comments

@jon
Good to hear you doing well

I feel like lieing to your psychiatrist might help you get better meds and social programs.

I'm in Australia. Social programs are limited to disability pension (which you can access if you are unable to work more than 15 hours per week) and unemployment.

I wouldn't feel good lying anyway

I'm working towards finding a way to work for myself

It's probably better not to lie about your condition just to get disability/unemployment. You wouldn't want to get caught up in a lie.

Exactly

Oh and update I've stopped the Valdoxan. Have been having really poor sleep that's been causing extreme fatigue during the day. Recent blood tests say nothing is up so I'm sure it's something to do with the tablets.

Now that I'm well and truly out of the depression I'm hoping I can just keep skating without it. I'll talk to my doctor next time about whether it's something I should use again if I go back into a longer depression.

I've come to terms with a lot of what happened in the last few years. It sucks I still get the intrusive negative thoughts and memories (not flashbacks) and it hurts that I had to say goodbye to a friend group because of being not cared for. I'm more at peace with the idea that it just was never meant to be. I think every minute spent around bad people is a moment not spent around good.

Shouldn't you just keep taking your meds until you talk to your doctor about the problems they're causing? I mean, they were taking care of your depression, right?
