Knocking Up A Straw Bale * 1

Has anyone done this?

I'm thinking I'll need to soak it, should I add lime or not a concern outdoors?  I'll probably separate the layers and spread out a mycoquart between each one, maybe 4 to 6 quarts total.

I was thinking about using a half whiskey barrel to soak it.  I could do fancy math to figure out the volume but most likely will just count how many five gallon buckets are used, then multiply times 30.

I do have room in a fenced off garden that gets a lot of sun and have had good results placing colonized substrate there.  Or it could go underneath a tree which is mostly full shade. :shrug:

I'm thinking that it's still way too much substrate, it might side fruit or I may need to break and shake some of the layer's together when it starts to colonize... but it is done.  We shall see what happens.  Worst case is I'm out 6 quarts of premo spawn. :shrug:
