If only, we had nearly 2K humans actively browsing the Pub.

   

In reality, we've (our technological overlords at any rate, have) off-handed personal discovery to AI-aggregation.  The hit numbers belie the truth, and we no longer receive a steady stream of organically connected human minds to interact in the curious nature of biological consciousness.

If anyone here has ideas, please float them.  I've known the value that this community has provided, personally and by witness, and I want to make sure it will be here for the time to come.

How do we stay relevant?

honestly, the best solution i seen, although its not fair to poor people, is to charge a cover fee, $10 a month to browse he forums, cuts trolls and maybe bots by a lot

That’s a great way to kill the shroomery. I get the intention but I’m not gonna pay $10 a month for shroomery.

My friend if we were any more relevant the DEA would be asking questions.  Yes, I understand we are not all from the US, but this website is counterculture and the government fucking hates counter culture.  Be happy for what we have.  I don’t need this place being overrun by retards who just think “hurr durr shrooms r kul” and frankly you don’t either.

Maybe cooperation with other websites. It's much harder for Shroomery to come up organically in search because of SEO marketing and reproduction of Shroomery knowledge on social media. A way to capture targeted traffic by association could lead to better retention of new signups.

A much harder to implement idea, that may appeal to younger would-be Shroomerites: An endless feed app that feeds main forum content. Doesn't need the same advanced search and smiley functions, just the ability for people to scroll, scroll, scroll. BB forums are a relic of times past. I've been a member of many and Shroomery is the only one that still exists as a real forum, the others are just a pet project where a few friends hang out and chat but mostly they are stardust. Many folks in younger generations don't want more powerful interfaces that deliver more information, they just want it to be easy and entertaining.

Making the two platforms side by side and interoperable is a massive technical undertaking, I can understand resistance to it.

theres youtube videos where people just read reddit threads, if someone made  ashroomery one maybe some youtubers would join, you can even make the content 19+ i think to keep kids from seeing it

Almost every message board i frequented 10 years ago is gone. Even abovetopsecret the conspiracy board, and they had hundreds of posts every night.

My idea is radical, a crypto coin that you get for posting and plus ones. The coins have value if you want to say buy supporter benefits or something, so you generate 1000 coins and someone wants to buy a shroomery shirt, they buy your coins off you. The more coins you have the more voting power your plus ones have. You could also buy more coins to increase your voting power. So we reward people for good posts with a coin you can actually exchange. Instead of mining there is a daily pool of coins created and dispensed on post popularity. (like steemit, which failed, but the idea is still good). Say 20 percent of these coins go to the house, which sells them, and accepts them as payment for merch, or supporter accounts etc. In that way they have an actual value. You can get a coin like that listed on exchanges and trade them for BTC. The reason steemit failed was greed, people didnt read posts and wrote scripts to upvote their friends automatically, that can be fixed. I am sure a crypto rewards for good posts scheme can work.

Also say you discover some crazy new method to grow, its a private post and you can only view it by paying. Same with creating say a premium "how to" course.


We would need some way to verify individual users and shut out bots and AI.

This would ruin the whole point of the plus one. Turning it into a currency that people would be foolish not to take advantage of at every opportunity.

I’ve actually been thinking about this for a while, and was going to say that we should have a shroomery mobilization - true boots on the ground style effort of all of us slapping up shroomery.org posters in public areas to spread the word.

I think the poster (really just an 8.5”x11” paper) would have to be something that grabs people’s attention enough to try checking it out. Of course should have in big visible bold font Shroomery.org. And even a QR code for people to scan and directly link to the site.

For the site faithfuls, we all print up 25-50, and hit up our local libraries, colleges, guitar centers, and Anywhere that there might be a bulletin board. I would do this once a year, starting this week. If we could get even 15 of us to do this, it could be a very outside the box (that all other sites are stuck in) way of getting the name out.

I’m actually going to start doing this regardless of whether we can get other troops on board. But think it would be cool if we had a dedicated sticky thread where people could post when they put em up, and how many they were able to. Then there is a way to at least see if the effort (based on how many people participate) yields results.

Old school elbow grease baby!! Would anyone be down to do this?

I love that idea.
Why don't we have any presence at mushroom festivals at all? That feels like a huge wasted opportunity.
We could at the least have cool posters with the QR code on it people could scan that sends them to the website that could be put up.
