Not genuine, (or disingenuous) is not the same thing as 'fake' or 'a bot'.

Right-wing rhetoric changed over the last 10ish years.. I think at first they knew they were trolls. Now I'm not so sure.
It seems like the core principle is- "If saying this or believing this makes my enemies mad, it must therefore be true and good."  No need for internal consistency and logic.

I do prefer the term fascist over Nazi, unless discussing Nazis.

But there's a lot of fascists going masks off atm.  And a lot of folks on the right justifying it.  So, the word ends up getting used a lot.

This is a good thing, in the long run. Let them show their true colors.

If there is no debate then ideas don't get check and interactions outside the norms for that idea becomes hate, leading terrorism.

That's an easy way to avoid discussing alternative opinions - to claim they are fake.

I laugh every time someone online calls me a "bot" . . . It's so childish

I agree that it's best to assume good faith.  Which is what I'm doing here with your comment.

So, let's analyze vicepope’s claim.

vicepope said
Again none of the right wing groups are building concentration camps in the 21st century its left wing groups

Using vicepope’s definition of left and right from a bit later in the conversation, i.e. communism vs capitalism rather than progressive vs establishment, and setting aside debates about whether or not China is really communist; he still ignores Russian and US concentration camps.

This gesture is quite similar in intent to someone claiming that China doesn't have concentration camps but the US does.  Ignore human rights abuses by the favored regime, while diverting attention to some other regime.

Hence GC’s comment that vicepope is often disingenuous.

I call it bad faith because when the position is interrogated typically his response is to move the goal post, argue semantics, etc.  Rather than simply admitting that there's human rights abuses in the US that fall under the category of concentration camps, at least as most of the world outside of authoritarian propaganda bubbles define them.

Anyway, it's not something I have the patience for and would prefer to focus on contributing things I actually enjoy talking about.  So I chose to put him on ignore and will likely do the same with several other posters who display similar patterns.

But I'll remove the negative rating I left Monday, because it was harsh and it's easier to self critique when we don't feel threatened.
