Day 300
Potency still rising @ 16.19 mg/g
dry weight still dropping slowly and ABE barely delectably rising.

I did grab the predehydration weight this time. It was 38 grams, down from a starting weight of 50 grams. I plan to start 10 more jars on the next run, but didn't have time this round with all of the holiday stuff going on. So in the future I will have wet and dry weights to track. I will figure out a way to add that and make a pretty graph that includes the new and old data for the first 10 points.

Hey Rev,

Assuming I am interpreting the data correctly where do you see the benefit of long-term ageing of the grains? Because the total actives and ABA are quite static after about 30 days. The end dry weight reducing I’m going to assume is the mycelium consuming the grain product itself and not just water otherwise we wouldn’t see such a large difference in dry weight over time. My impression is if you want to use the dried grains as an additive for baking or something like that then long-term benefit is a higher concentrated product, otherwise I’m not sure I see the value particularly if you just want to make tea

I tested 12 dry grams of semperviva spawn from a jar which has been colonized since 27/08/2025. The jar from which the grain was taken is pictured. I thought it may be helpful and reassuring to others because the spawn does not look appetizing. I took the grains from the jar in December and at that point there was not prominent bluing as seen only a tinge. I did dehydrate the grains and store them with a desiccant in a ziplock in some drawers until use.

I heated about 200ml of water to 90c and added the semp spawn I had blitzed in a coffee grinder.
I added water to the semp spawn and stirred, drinking 15 minuets later.
My headspace was altered within 15 minuets and after an hour had passed I was certain what I took was active and altering my perception because I was experiencing minor open eye perceptual anomalies such as minor breathing of walls and also sort of seeing almost electricity in the air around things if that makes sense and this was something absent from my experiences with cubes.
I started to notice I felt good as if something was buzzing inside me giving me feel good energy much alike what the euphoria of Magic HBWR seeds.
I was experiencing faint complex CEV's that seemed almost in my minds eye, this was only a small dose and I did take 3 tabs of acid a week ago so had a tolerance but the visuals I could tell were different than cubes.

I am glad I experienced a small taste of what this fungus has to offer. What is most noteworthy is that the semperviva was making me feel good pumping me with euphoric well being feelings, as mentioned this is similar to how magic seeds made me feel but the stimulation is absent although it is still energetic.

I am excited to continue working with semperviva and can see the hype is real.
I attempted this same test without success using a jar I was constantly shaking every about 3 days and didn't notice any active effects however many variables are different such as the fact I applied much more heat and for a longer period of time so I cannot confirm if the shaking inhibited magic but felt it may be worth mentioning for others.

Did you strain the solids from the water?

I did strain the solids using a metal coffee filter and then poured water over the sludge to make another concoction but never drank it.

[additional note]I am happy to report I noticed a considerable boost in well-being the day after trying the semp tea. I couldn't help but smile and felt as if I was radiating joy whilst going about my activities.

What does the brains trust have to say about eating trich? I was planning to dehydrate the rest of the jar the semperviva spawn came from but noticed a spot of trich.I did a bit of research and it seems trich itself is not something I should worry about. I am still hesitant though as there was some wisdom from others in *this thread warning about the potential for the aggressiveness of the semperviva to hide potentially harmful contaminants.

[EDIT: I was incorrect and it was Ochra and another thread I was thinking of]

You have it exactly. Originally I just wanted to know if the potency continued to rise with time or if it stopped or reverted as some point. That was just for curiosity sake.

Since the total actives appears to be fairly constant as the weight decreases and the potency rises, there is not much advantage in a long colonization for making tea. It may be useful if you are using the powdered grain to make capsules or maybe baking. But now I am looking more at making dried extractions, so even that point is moot.

The final reason that I continue to test is that at the end of the first experiment the last couple of potency results began to climb rapidly after 300 days. I want to see if that was a fluke or something more interesting with a longer experiment this time.

I kind of have this vision of a winery with cellars of giant vats of grain spawn aging for years to produce highly sought after vintages of perfected actives. Okay, Not really. That just popped into my head and I thought it was amusing.

My understanding it that trich is relatively harmless to humans and that thoroughly dehydrating at 160f is sufficient to kill off most any fungus, molds and bacteria. So I am fairly confident eating my products, but I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice.

You can also make tea and dehydrate that to preserve it. I do a triple decoction with 20 to 30 minutes boils for grain. Then I dehydrate the tea down to dry crystals in condiment cups. That should kill anything else that might be a problem. Again, I respect anyone who doesn't feel good about eating anything sketchy at all. This fits my risk tolerance, but it may not fit yours.

This is my first time Myceliated grain. It is brown rice - it was inoculated around 150 days ago. I used loundry mesh bag for drying because my dehydrator tray is too big. Dried for 24h in 60C. It went from 266g to 136g. I don't have access to Miraculix tests for know (maybe I'll order a few after next paycheck) but I'll try it in a few days and I will come back with report :smirk:
I thinking about grinding it and packing into capsules for easy dosage.

Just finished reading this whole thread, phew. So interesting though!

A few questions:

- if I were going the gummies route (boiling, filtering and then reducing tea), would dehydrating and/or grinding be necessary? That is to say, has the mycelium penetrated the (in my case, wheat) grain?

Just throwing this out there: Do you think adding tryptamine or L-tryptophan to the grain would speed up the synthesis of psilocybin by the mycelium?

Rev, you said: "I would put the potency from my tests to about the same as cubes by weight at 3 to 4 months. [...] However, it is possible that the actives in the grains are less bioavailable when consumed in the dried grains than when consuming the dried fruits. Or about a million other possible explanations".
Have you tested a cube using the same method as with the grain? Because bioassays on here seem to be less potent than expected from your data. Of course this could be due to genetic differences between yours and others. Have you bioassayed? What has your experience been?

I am excited to see whether or not we see that spike post day 300 again!

I was wandering the same thing and asked Rev about it some time ago. Here's the answer:
ReverendMyc said:
Since making the tea requires higher temperatures than dehydrating and then dehydrating the tea uses the same temperatures as drying the grain, I would feel safe skipping the initial drying. I wouldn't eat the grains fresh, but if you are making Active Instant Teatm anyway, I would trust the boil and dehydration to kill anything harmful.

No harm in drying it first, though. Just more time and electricity.

I've "bioassay" small sample - 0.6g dried myceliated grain - for me it was a chill level 1 (or maybe like a "0.9 level") but I very sensitive. It was very nice and relaxing evening

Another thing that might be useful - I was able to pack 0,85g of dried myceliated brown rice into 00 capsule. It packs way better than dried mushroom (usually I'm able to pack 0,45g of dried mushroom in 00 capsules). I don't know if thats the case with other types of grain.

Thanks for that Oktopus, I must have missed that. Maybe boiling the myceliated wheat whole would reduce the problematic starchy viscosity.

Regarding your bioassay, how old was the grain?

Regarding potentially extracting from the mycelial mat of LC, I came across this patent: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2024127299A1/en

One could perpetually harvest the mycelial mat that forms on the surface of the LC jar.

After some calculations, I think that, unless someone can figure out an efficient way of filtering the mycelium from the media, or maximising the surface area of the LC jar (like a dish), grain is the way to go. Who knows though, I will try both when my spores arrive

Nichrome's Leather Tek

That works very well and the leather is more potent than the grain ime. It is easy enough to optimize.  This was a very thick brf lc. You can grow a full leather of high potency about every 1-2 months.  This same jar has a 5 year old leather on top now that I will likely harvest finally this summer and eat it.

I definitely need to work on LC slurry leathers.

Some of my semp LI master jars have veiny webs of old myc climbing the walls with next to no nutrition in the jars other than some diced up agar wedges. I imagine a nutritious slurry would be really effective.

Now I am picturing a super villain's lab filled with vats of floating mycelium skins. You know this is where xenomorphs originally came from, right? Some cult geek got carried away with creating the most efficient fungus. Next thing you know,

Wow, it really is leathery, glad to hear someone's had success with it.

Approx what is the capacity of your LC jars, and the dry weight of the mat? Does it take 1-2 months for the mat to form again after harvest, or is this when youve found potency peaks? Do you think potency changes over time?

What would you estimate the potency in mg/g?

5yrs is wild 🤣, please report how that goes.

I think the problem with LC is oxygen. With grain, the interstitial air pockets between the grain means our mycelium is essentially colonising a sponge-like substrate.

Just harvested a jar of 4 1/2 month old Myceliated grain (semp) and noticed individual grains, thick clumps of grains, and also a lot of ‘skins’. These skins were the pseudo sclerotia looking growths against the glass of the jar. Curious if other grain connoisseurs have come across these:mushroom2:

Updated op with latest results. Everything seems to be leveling off.
On the original test, this is about the time that the potency was increasing rapidly, but also when I ran out of samples. These results seem more in line with expectation, but we still have 1,419 days to completion before calling it.

Doing the lord's work 🙏!

Do you think that there will be enough sustenance/h20 with out the myc going into a sort of dormancy?

Would adding nutrients/h20 give any sort of "booster-shot" effect?  (After a long while ofc)
