every old kinda dumb method if you ask me there are much simpler ways of extracting DMT out of mimosa hostilis such as http://wiki.dmt-nexus.com/Lazyman's_tek's_tek were you can go from root bark to dmt in a matter of hours with only lye and naptha ive done it and got over 10% dmt out of my mimosa hostilis root bark

Well, we revisited that little bottle with the white cap the other day, but sadly the white has now melted into a dark brown oily tar-like substance.

DMT N-oxide, iirc. It's still active, but it will feel kind of lame, lol.

I think re-crystalizing might work. I'm not sure, though. You should check out the shroomery discord server. I think they can probably give you a more definitive answer. And they're a fun group, lol.

I don't know anything about discord servers.

Most of the hard work is done now, i did several passes of the polar extraction (vinegar water) then chucked the sediment after leaving it overnight in the fridge to settle, basified it with NaOH, added naphtha for the non-polar extraction (Coleman fuel here in the UK), and am leaving it now to form its layers.



it's already mostly separated within half an hour, but the instructions say to leave it at least 4 hours, so i'll wait before pulling off that clear top layer of naphtha with goodies in.

Nearly done now

I pulled off that clear top layer with a syringe/pipette/turkey baster into a flat glass dish. I kept topping up the big glass demijohn with hot water, which immediately sank into the polar bottom (purple) layer, pushing the clear naphtha up to make it easier to grab. Then i put this flat glass dish in front of a fan for a few hours, to reduce the volume down from ~350ml to ~80ml, by which time the sediments were starting to precipitate out. I used a razor blade to scrape the sides, and washed the sides a little with some more naphtha to try to get the extra from the glass sides. Then it went into the freezer. The tek says 3 days, which seems a lot.





all that's left to do is to filter the crystals from the naphtha, scrape the extra from the base of the dish, wash the crystals (ammonia then ice water), and dry them. Hoping for 2.5g

Equipment needed: big saucepan, other pots and pans, measuring jug, funnel, glass demijohn, flat glass dish, coffee filter. I didn't have a demijohn but i got one on FB marketplace for £7
Ingredients: powdered mimosa hostilis root bark (£98), white vinegar (£5), naphtha (£10), ammonia (£5) .... total ~£120. none of it was difficult to source.

seems to be progressing well - i don't know if/how much more is likely to precipitate out, but this is how it looks now after half a day in the freezer. i'm tempted to strain it out now and then put it back in, but i don't have any filters until tomorrow, so :shrug:

the left over remnant from the original powdered bark looks like an ideal fungal subsrate to me, so i squirted in some liquid pleurotus mycelium i discovered in a cupboard. i've had it for ages (6M plus) and i didn't think of this until 2 days after i'd put the medium in another bag - and i didn't bother to sterilise or even repasteurise it - so i'm not particularly hopeful for this, but figured why not.

This part is confusing to me, lol. I've heard that there was some kind of mushroom additive that you could add into the process that might possibly boost potency, but it was a pure chemical that I forgot the name of.

nearly done now, i'm on the vinegar strokes.

i filtered the naphtha with a coffee filter, spread it out and allowed it to dry. in a new filter i then washed it with distilled water/ammonia, followed by ice cold pure distilled water to get rid of any lingering ammonia smell or taste. now i've spread that final filter out to dry for a final time. all that's left then is to weigh it and put it in a container, which i may then store in the freezer.

the total harvest was less than i'd hoped for, just 0.65g, a quarter of what i got last time 18 years ago but i am more confident in my chemistry and methods now than i was then, so i expect the powdered root bark this time was just not as potent. i remember the same vibrant purple colour as last time, but i think in 2007, when i powdered the actual bark myself in a blender. it had a pinker hue. but memories fade.



still, 650mg is 10 strong doses, so i'm a happy Shirley today :yesnod:
btw, on the left is the melted goop from 2007, if anyone clever can suggest a method to reanimate it, please let me know. i won't chuck it away just yet.
