Let me begin with a picture:

On the left, appears some yellowish crystal harmala/harmaline. The substance shimmers in the light when you rotate the vial. It's pretty pure, and simple home extraction teks were used in order to obtain this pure sample. I'll explain the procedure and a few things I noted.
On the right is a vial of 5-MeO-DMT. Good combination, very good...
Now, I looked at many different extraction FAQs in order to come up with a collective procedure to do this. First, start with the extraction listed <a href="https://www.mind-media.com/go.php?http://www.erowid.org/plants/syrian_rue/syrian_rue_extraction2.shtml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>.
I didn't combine the crude extracts from the three separate extractions from the seed. These were used separately.
Here are the differences and notes that I used in my extraction, in the order that they would take place during the extraction. Keep in mind that this was done three times for each of the crude extracts.
1) Extract heated to near boiling by submersing Quart jar containing extract, on paper towel, on bottom of pot of water. The water was heated to boiling.
2) Hot liquid was put into a 1000mL beaker, and then a coffee filter was put onto the quart jar mouth. The hot extract was then poured through the filter, slowly adding more extract until there was only a small amount of waste extract solution in the filter. Discarded filter.
3) NaCl (Table salt, non-iodized) was added to the hot solution. Kept doing this until it was difficult to dissolve more. Then, I heated the solution up a little more, to dissolve the remaining salt.
4) The concoction was then allowed to slowly cool. After reaching near-room-temp, the extract was placed in the fridge.
5) Soon after, the hot extract was pressure filtered. I'll explain that here:
Some extraction TEKs call for something crazy like a small lab type vacuum pump powered bottle top filtering funnel with filter disk holder.
BUT not everyone is an extraction fanatic, SO you might observe the various things used in the following pic:

By the way, take note of the drops on the beaker and the liquid in the graduated cylinder. The actives (harmala/harmaline) glow under blacklight.
To make your very own pressure filter device, simply acquire an empty, clean 20oz plastic beverage bottle (soda, pop, whatever you might call it). Punch a small circular hole in the bottom, on the side, and put a piece of scotch tape over that.
Now, bore a circular hole in the center of the cap. Take out that blue plastic seal if there is any. Then, take a few coffee filters, and on the top trace an outline of the cap. Now cut out inside that line, and you will have a few circular filters.
To operate this filtering mechanism, you simply place one filter in the inside of the cap, and tape that small hole on the bottom of the bottle. Using your beaker (or other easy-pour container), pour the solution you are filtering into the plastic bottle. Then cap it tightly with your FilterCap.
Invert the bottle over a fresh container. Remove the scotch tape. Some liquid should start to slowly flow out, but to quicken the process you are going to put your thumb over that hole, and squeeze the bottle. This process never broke my filterpaper. When you're running out of room to squeeze, let go of that hole and let some air in. Repeat until all liquid has been filtered. You now have a circular piece of paper with the filtered stuff, and liquid that is filtered. Back to the procedure.
6) When you filter a salt-saturated extract through your filter paper, all of the goodies are dissolved. The addition of salt causes sediments and other impurities to form (somehow). So, when you filter a hot extract, discard the filter paper and keep the filtered liquid.
7) Allow the filtered liquid to cool. Long, pin-like red crystals should form. This is your stuff. After cooling, these can be acquired by pressure filtering the solution. The filter paper you used, should have a gunk coating on it, yellowish in color. This will flouresce very slightly in a blacklight, and a small amount of this added to water will cause cool blacklight streaks in the water.
8) Put the filter paper on a paper towel to remove excess water. Then, put the filter paper in a box with desiccant, to remove the remaining water. You now have a slightly impure extract. Once this is dry, it can be scraped up.
After this point, I want to obtain pure crystals using the same setup. Here's how:
1) Add impure solid to a container. Add just enough hot water to dissolve the solid completely. Too little water, and you'll lose a lot to filtration. Too much, and you get excess capacity and probably more lost alkaloids.
2) Keep this hot (in a hot bath of some sort). Add NaCl slowly, to saturation.
3) Filter this hot liquid, quickly. While it is still hot. If there's any yellow gunk in the filter then you removed some crystals as well.
4) Discard filter with sediment.
5) Allow extract to cool. Crystals should form.
6) Filter solution. Again, desiccate filter. When it is completely dry, if the end product is relatively pure then the surface of the yellow filter will have a fiberglass appearance; that is, many long strands shimmer in the light.
7) Scrape this off the filter paper. Crush it up, and add to your vial of rue crystal.
It is worth mentioning that this end crystal is rather concentrated, and can be taken sublingually. It can be capsulated, or dissolved in water (or other liquid). The crystal without impurities doesn't have the nasty rue smell or taste.
Here's the dehydrated crystal, under blacklight:

As you can see the crystals themselves do not flouresce a lot but when they are dissolved in water, an obvious glow eminates.
It's funny how, after a day of working with the extract, you will be covered in flourescent stuff. I wouldn't have known, if it weren't for me holding a blacklight up to myself. My hands, arms, shirt, and even face, were covered in glowing spots. You don't realize how much you touch your face, esp. when it's hot n' humid.
Enjoy
