Mushrooms grow strong but then apparently stop or slow down and the cap never opens
    #29312028 -

So after a lot of trials and errors, a couple of years ago I finally managed to run a very successful monotub, after that, only failures, suspects of some contamination, and weird growing behavior. In addition to that temperature is crazy these days, so yeah, right now conditions are not great, 30+ °C here, it wasn't exactly planned to grow in August, but here I am...

For example, here's what I mean, this boy here was the most promising one, and now it looks like is starting to wrinkle and stall. It also seems like pretty much all the other fruits grows towards the ground. I can provide accurate description of the environment, but AFAIK nothing really explain such disaster.

Anyway, while I think the current conditions might have an impact, I don't think it's the key point here. Before this monotub (months ago, with proper temperature) I had another one, same mycelium source, that gave me zero fruits in more than two months, with no apparent contamination.

Even before, another one gave me the same feeling about the current one, except that it had a lot of fruits, that sadly never get to a fully mature state. Here's a picture of that, keep in mind that I never picked anything from this, hence the mess, but notice how no mushroom actually opened its cap.

I guess the question is, what in your experience could cause all this? It's been years since I started experimenting with cultivation, and I really didn't change much in terms of procedure and conditions, with respect to the successful attempts, at least purposefully.

What I suspect, is that I'm dealing with some kind of annoying contamination, also kind of confirmed by the fact that the last two trips, from the same stash (perfectly stored IMHO), made me feel quite sick, physically, and I had like 15+ perfectly fine experiences before that. I'm still trying to clone and transfer, possibly waiting for more proper conditions, but I'm really keen to throw everything away (I have several spore prints, and stalled Petri dishes in the fridge) and start over from scratch...

It's incredibly frustrating not knowing what's going on, especially now that I think I've improved my overall technique and expertise.

Seems like bacterial contamination across the board.

Care to elaborate, or at lest point me to some reading material? What makes you think that?

I had that suspect too, and in fact I tried the (pretty dope) Cabin-Sequestering (CS) technique, suggested here, and the in the OP I'm using the resulting mycelium.

Post your resulting plate.

Which one was sent to grain?

Both (transfers of), leftmost is responsible of the current monotub, rightmost the older one that yielded no fruits. IIRC the weird shape of the latter was a piece of mycelium that fell during the transfer.
