Seemingly perfect monotub surface conditions, yet no pins in two months
    #29266643 -

So yeah, that's it, I started a monotub with one of the plates coming from this post, actually using the result of the Cabin-Sequestering approach suggested in that thread. In any case, the resulting mycelium was healthy and tomentose, comparable to the one shown in that post.

So I made milled jars out of it, using the same procedure as always, and eventually started a monotub. (I could go into more details if you want to know something specific.) The mycelium started colonizing the substrate just fine, completely. It was May, temperature around 21 °C, moisture was pretty much OK, yet no pins. Now, after two months, it's very hot here, like 31 °C, conditions still looks fine, yet a bit drier of course, the substrate shrunk, probably also due to the evaporation of the water. No particular signs of contamination, just recently some fluffy slightly yellowish mycelium  blobs started to appear, but no big deal IMHO.

Here's a picture of the surface back in May, the excess moisture was only temporary, I then regulated the air flow, unfastening the lid a bit (I'm using a Pastywhyte's Ez dialed monotub):

And here's right now (also notice the two fluffy blobs):

At this point I don't expect this to fruit, now I'm just waiting for another set of jars to fully colonize in order to start another monotub. But this puzzles me quite a lot, everything looks perfect, also it suck as I don't understand what can I change in the next try.

Do you guys have any ideas or suggestions?

Ive never personally seen it but i have heard of strains that dont fruit. Part of the ms crapshoot. Id leave it until you see mold pop up

The surface looks noticeably dryer than before but it should still have popped a fruit by now if it's GT.

Yeah I will keep it for now, it's just a matter of time I guess until some contamination happens anyway.

Yes it's GT, also I managed to fruit before, all my attempts come from the same initial spore print.

It may just be too dry then, seems odd but I'd give it a good mist and possibly cover some holes if the monotub is drying out too fast.

Eh I don't know, keep in mind that in two months it went very slowly from maybe too wet to maybe too dry, with this I mean that it had plenty of time to spawn at least one pin in the right conditions. It happened to me before that some unsuccessful monotubs fruited just a few of weird-looking and unhealthy mushrooms, but at least something... Well, I guest I could try with one last mist, as a last resort.

When we say "ms crapshoot" we mean we have no idea what will come of it.

LOL thanks for clarifying... If MS stands for multi spore, then I'm a bit confused by the term, does starting the cultivation from a single spore print would be considered MS?

Anyway and FWIW, to add a bit of context, the monotub I'm dealing with, started from mycelium coming from a clone.

Yes, MS refers to the starting point of the project I.e. from a print, spore syringe, gill fragment etc. Whenever spores are used to start a project.

As D said, I would give it a mist, make the surface glisten like a fine morning dew and dial back FAE a bit.
