Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think I wore out my welcome as an insecure newbie. I feel like an expectant father with no La Maz classes for the birthing. Dead's on its way. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

YEP...nix the Jiffy mix, the stuff is nasty. I use 1/2" plain verm on the bottom, it makes a good water reservoir and you should have zero worries about it causing contamination problems. I bake my verm in the casing tray at 350 deg for a half hour or so, that way both the verm and tray are nice and clean. Probably overkill....but I'm just paranoid.
