Never heard of that. What's the club called? Is it any good?

Heheh should've known. Yes, I think the Drone album will be a classic.

The album of this weekend was a damn easy pick, after this fucking masterpiece of a chillout album was brought to my attention by a certain Dane - Thanks Static!

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden (Ultimae 2003)

1. Central pains
2. Tensor
3. MOS 6581 (album version)
4. Silent running
5. Neurotransmitter
6. Hydroponic garden
7. Exosphere
8. Comsat
9. Epicentre
10. Artificial island
11. Refraction

Anyone, electronica fan or not, would be a fool not to check this one out. I'm deeply impressed.

Today?s suggestion is a ridiculously obvious one... First ever solo release by Sebastian Mullaert, known from Son Kite and Minilogue. It?s all very different, but top notch. Strangely enough out of Dragonfly... I have no idea why.

Kooler: Open (Dragonfly 2004)

1. In the heights
2. Solid kiss
3. Freefall
4. Harold and Maude
5. Open
6. Superstar
7. Awake
8. Life lift
9. Mango

Yeah some are quite nice. I'm on a quest to upload and replace the shitload of them that got minimized for some fucked up reason... It's killing my upload space.

Re: RunDMT's Music Suggestion Thread [Re: RunDMT]

Okay! It's been a while, and so on. So here we go. I've checked out pretty much everything on the Ultimae label after getting that sweet Carbon B. Lifeforms cut in my mailbox.

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden (Ultimae 2003)

1. Central pains
2. Tensor
3. MOS 6581 (album version)
4. Silent running
5. Neurotransmitter
6. Hydroponic garden
7. Exosphere
8. Comsat
9. Epicentre
10. Artificial island
11. Refraction

And I must say... That is one hell of an ambient label. So far an act called Aes Dana has really caught my attention, so I'll start with that. Think sweet ambient with a twist of progressive beats, and some solid vocals...

Aes Dana: Season 5 (Ultimae 2003)

1. Natti natti
2. Peripherics
3. Season 5
4. Undertow
5. Gatewick (Vinyl aiport delay)
6. Dew (Herbal version)
7. Chrysalis
8. Onset data
9. Forest fish
10. Suspended grounds

Might as well cover the rest of the acts on the label while I'm at it... There are some compilations too, but I have not heard them all yet.

Solar Fields: Blue Moon Station (Ultimae 2003)

1. Confusion illusion
2. Elevator sunshine girl
3. Cosmic dessert
4. Magic eye
5. Infection 268-7
6. Magnetic air
7. Majestic feeling
8. Blue moon station (Album version)
9. Planet zoo
10. Third time (A-version)
11. Swimming with the stones

Asura: Code Eternity (Ultimae 2000)

1. Like a summer day
2. Trinity
3. Simply blue
4. Phoenix
5. Code eternity
6. Territories part one
7. XP continuum

Here's a project by Solar Fields and Aes Dana together:

H.U.V.A. Network: Distances (Ultimae 2004)

1.  Distances
2. Access to the long fields
3. Rain geometries
4. Symmetric lives
5. Processing lights
6. Indigo room
7. Time circles
8. Overload (Putput mix)
9. Moon town
10. Morning call (Dawn Rmx)
11. Sunday barbecue with the neighbours

And a couple of classic albums from one of the earliest 'minimal' acts, to round it all off.

Shiva Chandra: Gecko (Spirit Zone 2001)

1. Acht achtel
2. BSB
3. Vierenkrach
4. Gecko
5. Torn cat
6. Karasu
7. Bali frogs
8. M.Y. Papatacci

Now this one is pretty nifty... It's a 2-disc edition, where the second disc is a video CD with about an hour of music videos. A rare thing indeed when it comes to this type of stuff.

Shiva Chandra: Subsonic (Spirit Zone 2003)

CD1(audio)
1. Splud
2. I never have
3. Loops
4. The rip FX
5. Turn about
6. Family
7. Alien reminder
8. Tinware
9. Modern acoustics

CD2(video)

1. Splud
2. The rip FX
3. Loops
4. I never have
5. Family
6. Tinware
7. Modern acoustics

:crazy2:

I?m a bit late with announcing this release, seeing as it?s been out for a month or something already.

...But it?s a fucking must have. You might remember my praise and predictions regarding a new label called Zenon and their first release...

Quote:
RunDMT said:
This is the best damn compilation, in my opinion, released 2003. Period.
The line up is outstanding, and you can tell it?s custom made because they all manage to maintain an outstanding feel to the whole thing.

Being the first album out of a brand new label, Zenon Records, this predicts a sweet future.

V.A. Eyes Rolling (Zenon 2003)
[/url]

1. Phat Kontrollerz - Flat control
2. Triplex - His problem child
3. Krumelur - Dunkia Motive
4. BigWigs - Vibrafon (Sensient remix)
5. Sensient - Vector Director
6. Mantik - Centauri Pasta
7. Mekanizm - Agitate
8. Sun Control Species - Proxima 5598
9. Praecox - Kizi mizi

Well I was right. Their next release is even better... My god does this rule! All I could ever wish for, explicitly made for and stuck onto a disc. Fiercly intelligent and innovative production.

V.A. Permutations (Zenon 2004)

1. Kent - Bush Too
2. Sun Control Species - From within to without
3. Cujorius One - Gelfling gaggle
4. Sensient - Ballistic
5. Legohead vs. Sensient - Modus operandi
6. Krumelur - You decide
7. Praecox - Noye Frizur
8. FREq - Incense tree
9. Moses - Dehydrated

If you?ve liked the kind of stuff I?ve been reviewing in this thread, this album is most definitely for you.
The track by Krumelur is completely insane. And I am NOT one to complain about acts like Praecox, out of Bigwigs. :crazy2:

This one's not yet been released, so I don't know what to expect really. I'm just quite excited as it is the first release out of Crotus Records (except for a 12" EP by Bassid) since my favorite album, Krumelur's "Minimal Animal" back in 2002. And with Comadose, it just can not go wrong. I'll be ordering this one as soon as it drops, mark my word people.

V.A. Plan.Plant.Planet. (Crotus 2004)

1. Comadose - Blaster
2. Comadose vs. Beatz - Scifi funk
3. Comadose - Tallerkenrul
4. Comadose - Spitz
5. Comadose vs. Bobby - Bred ymer
6. Bena Riamba - BC
7. Bena Riamba - Rumballs
8. Bena Riamba - Vel orbob
9. Beatz - Jamilla

More coming up soon!

Since we all got set back a few posts, I'm just re-notifying whoever is interested that Plan.Plant.Planet was a fuuucking masterpiece! God bless Crotus.
I'd also like to put my take on Enginewitty back up, since that was lost too...

Forget about the hideous cover for a second here folks. This is one ridiculously good album.

V.A. Enginewitty (Cosmic Conspiracy 2004)

1. Diwata - Bansuri
2. Ozone - Get Air
3.Weetbix - Flyzeyes
4. Alfredo Garcia - Planetensprengung
5.  Anakoluth - Daswan dwar
6. SMO - Synthtom
7. Duendo Matka - Fred Flintstoned
8. SMO - Betrayal
9. Dr Molekule - English voodoo
10.Eric the Viking & Odo - I can't believe it's not Buddha

I didn't recognize any of the artists apart from SMO at first glanse, but of course that just appealed all the more to me. But there were some familiar acts involved, like Alfredo Garcia being 42nd Thought, and SMO out of Meelo.
The tracks are new and very fresh in style, but they all follow a specific path which makes it one of those discs you just need to experience from end to end, over and over again.
It goes from grinding progressive to twisted minimal and rounds it all off nicely with some tribalistic downbeat.

I predict a very sweet future from Cosmic Conspiracy. No label has tickled my senses like this since Crotus. And with an upcoming second release just around the corner, I am literally aroused.

Now for something entirely different. Japanese act Charm, or K.U.R.O, has switched labels. The new firm is fairly newborn, and called "Psyristor". Thought I'd cover their releases as to this date.
It's all right between progressive and techno, with some psy influences. Pretty hard stuff with low key elements, making it sort of minimal, just not dowbeat. It reminds me of MidiMiliz and The Delta, but being Japanese and all... It's optimized for efficiency.

Charm - Pathfinder (Psyristor 2003)

1. Retrospective
2. Parallux
3. Inside man
4. Emanations
5. Prime factors
6. State of flux
7. Learning curve
8. Metabollic

K.U.R.O. - Satisfaction (Psyristor 2004)

1. Bush beat
2. Dervish mind
3. Anion
4. Self control
5. Blast
6. Frozen bug
7. Next wave
8. Lifeforce
9. The man who fell to earth

And the most recent release, the label's first V.A. The Charm vs. Jin tracks are particularly interesting, pounding the crap out of your adrenaline, real stompers!

V.A. Destructive Inspection Phase 1 (Psyristor 2004)

1. Linac - Methane hydrate
2. Charm vs. Jin - Keep it
3. Perfect rainbow - Cosmic cross
4. K.U.R.O. - Atomic fission
5. Monoclonal - Polarization
6. Charm - Method 1
7. Monoclonal - 10000bq
8. Charm vs. Jin - Turning point
9. Charm - Bipolar electrode

This should be highly interesting to whoever enjoys stuff like Headroom, MidiMiliz, The Delta... Even some X.Dream.

After years of silence, and then suddenly dropping that blissfully sweet minimalistic wonder, Plan.Plant.Planet, Danish Crotus Records suddenly gets up and spits out yet another compilation, within virtually no time at all!
This time not quite from the same minimalistic stand point, but equally qualitative listening. And god, they sure managed to gather the cream of the crop for this one. This will work on any floor, but also on the home stereo. A must-have, atleast for me.

V.A. Soundscapes Part 1 (Crotus 2004)

1. Moses - Trukket i lyden
2. Navajo vs. Tribalistic Society - Atmosphere
3. Genetic Spin - Swordfish
4. Meeloo - Arctic rush
5. Sensient - Zoltan
6. Comadose - The history of marihuana
7. Praecox - Harmonire kunst
8. Sensient - Inhuman
9. Amygdala - Getting blurred

Talk about a big boy's line up eh?

Another new compilation worth mentioning is the new realease from Sub.Machine. Deep grooving progressive, out of nowhere. Mostly made up from unreleased side-project material, but also with some established names. And a few new surprises!

V.A. Day Time (Sub.Machine 2004)

1. La Baaz - Scrool
2. Motion - Interference
3. Antix & Dsens - Reflect
4. Clutch - Fat future
5. Fiction - What's your name
6. Fusi & Johnson - Stullen lude
7. Phony Orphants - Petanque
8. Side-A - Subliminal
