no sign of life on my nats plates. taking a page from Axman will try the remaining swab hydrated on a puck.

At this rate folks will have mushrooms before I'm going to grain, but whatever. Got ten months still and I'm on mushroom time :lol:

Sorry I'm a little late to the party! Can I still participate? I would like to do blue oysters.(Pleurotus ostreatus)
2/2/25 I held a blue oyster fruit over a petri and tapped it, these spores germinated in a couple days.
2/9/25  just transferred chunks to clean them up. Very interested to see what the fruits will look like when they get grown out.

Could I be a late joiner as well pls?

I put down x7x+ spores from Nektar61 (thanks again!) to agar on 30/1 - they germinated within 2 days and are looking good! I'm pretty pleased as I haven't had much luck with spores up to now ..

Anyways, 3 plates - all came up with some bacterial spots  and one has blue mold all of which I know are down to my technique (I was in a bit of a hurry and may have cut corners 🙄, every day's a schoolday right?).

The myc has seemingly executed the bacteria though, hardly a trace left to be seen!

not sure you can always 'see' bacteria like that. could be lurking in those plates if they were baccy before :shrug:

Yep, good point :thumbup: I'm intending on a few transfers before going anywhere near grain to make sure it's all nice and :mrclean:

If you see bacteria show up on your plate, transfer away from it as fast as possible. A densely overgrown plate can hide bacteria, even when backlit. Mycelium never cleans up contams by itself, well, not the mycelia of the shrooms we grow, at least.

Gymnopilus wedges from T-2 plate to grain and more Muda bottles.



Made some T-1 plates from new germination of some pans.

Normally I wouldn't do that with a cube, but I was curious too. So did a little wedge to a little grain to see what would happen.

I don't really trust this spawn and will throw it outside. 90 mins PC time was not enough for spelt, I guess. The fallout of experimentation. Will do a shoebox with 300 ml of spawn, just because. Mixed 1:4 with coir, pseudocasing. Substrate is only one inch deep.
