That’s ludicrous…

The animated movie is great, but you can’t get the same depth/essence in animation that you can with live action.

HOOK will make a grown man cry…it tugs on my heart strings from start to finish.

Do you mean depth of field? Because it's a 2 dimensional medium?

I think Hook would only make a grown man cry if that grown man was a little boy in the 90s. It's a fun movie but you're lying to yourself if you think it's anything other than a 90's Robin Williams vehicle. It literally kicked off his run of kids movies that decade.

And you dare to call it 'cinema'.

I keep saying I like the movie and that it's very enjoyable. It's just not a masterpiece in the American canon. If you feel that way you should watch more movies.

I'm gonna watch Hook and enjoy a plate of mozzarella sticks tonight.

I ate too many yesterday and got sick from the oil :sad: I always forget how much I hate stuff fried in vegetable oil until I’m too far gone.

I think I’ll try baking the rest of my batch tonight and see if they are nicer :laugh:

And as for hook, I’ll admit the nostalgia goggles probably got me on this one BUT there is no way it deserves such a low score on rotten tomatoes, 29% is RIDICULOUS. But also, what better movie came out in 1991? My own private Idaho? My girl? I feel like hook was a powerhouse for the year

Right. I think that was the first movie that ever made me cry. No, Bambi was, but it was the first live action that made me cry for sure.

I want to bring it back around to Hook appreciation. I probably only watched it two or three times as a child. My most watched and quotable movie as a child was Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I had older brothers with good senses of humor.
When I met my wife it was one of her favorite movies so of course we watched it together. I can safely say that I have now watched it at least a hundred times in the fourteen years we have been together. I fucking love that movie so much. It is one of my favorite movies now. Classic movies don't have to be cinematic "masterpieces" to be truly amazing.

Dude, Monty Python & The Holy Grail is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time.
My parents used to watch it, that’s how I got into it.

I find myself quoting it on a weekly basis. It’s a masterpiece, no doubt.

Hook just has that perfect hero’s journey, and robin williams was the perfect actor for it. I can’t imagine anyone else filling that role

Anytime I find a parking spot close to the store I always say to myself, "It's a blessing, a blessing from the Lord. God be praised." I just started watching it with my six year old daughter a few weeks ago. The tradition continues. :lol:

LOL, that’s awesome…

I especially love the Dennis scene, and the swallow/coconut weight ratio scene, and of course the witch ordeal…but the whole movie is great.
