Hi all, i got recently interested in mushroom hunting so i went out and checked what kind of mushrooms are there. These i found, can u ID them? i live in finland and i have collected those today 5.7 after a heavy rain. i spotted them in a park on a large grassfield. u can see the approx. height from the picture where there is a standard AA LR6 battery next to it. these mushrooms break up easily. hmm, i guess that's all i can tell. please don't freak out if there is a lack of information, i'm not gonna eat these until i get 100% id. just looking for some pointers. i don't have much knowledge on the subject but i think these may be Psilocybe subcoprophila or Psilocybe montana, but i'm no expert. any information is really appreciated! Thanks. edit: forgot to tell that the mushrooms have shiny stems and they do bruise easily..

They look like panaeolina foenisecii to me, I have them all over my yard right now, too. If I am right, they are also known as "haymower's mushrooms." When you say they bruise easily, do you mean they bruise blue easily, or do they bruise a brownish color? I am almost positive they are not active. Peace

Pan foens because they have detached gills, defining characteristic of foens. If you print one it will probably turn out brown. Not active, not edible.

panaeolus/panaeolina foenisecii... they look to be bruising brown... most subs that i have found didnt bruise blue immediately and some not even at all... panaeolus/panaeolina foenisecii is not active and can be edible but i wouldnt call it gourmet... my advice, just pitch them and good luck next time.

I think these guys are right. I read somewhere that panaeolina foenisecii were active but when I ate about 100 "lawnmower's mushroom"s,which is the common name in my old National Audubon field guide, I experienced nothing but mild nausea, probably due to nervous anticipation, similar to that warm feeling in the belly at the onset of a cubensis trip. I have since read that they may be poisonous. They looked exactly like the ones in your photos. I find them in just about every lawn after rainy days here in Ohio. They look cool, but they are really quite boring.

thanks for the ID i was just wondering are they active or not because u say they don't have any psychedelic value but every psychoactive mushroom guide i found in finnish listed panaeolina foenisecii as psychoactive. "Suomesta saattaa l?yty? my?s muita psilosybiinipitoisia sieni? kuten Panaeolina foenisecii, Psathyrella gracilis ja Psilocybe atrobrunnea. " translation: "In finland u may also find some other psilocybe containing mushrooms like Panaeolina foeniscii, Psathyrella gracilis and Psilocybe atrobrunnea." weird, huh? could it be that the amount of active compounds is so small in them that usually these mushrooms aren't even listed as active? well doesn't hurt to make some tea from a large amount of those and test? would be great if these turn out active (even if it is with only massive amounts) because there are plenty where that came from this afternoon i'll go hunt again and try to find some semilanceata.. EDIT: CHECK THIS OUT! erowid also lists them as active http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_info12.shtml now i'm getting confused. are they or not?

From: http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_faq.shtml#12
Panaeolina foenisecii
a.k.a. Psilocybe foenisecii, Psathyrella foenisecii, "Mower's mushroom", previously Panaeolus foenisecii
Often found with other Panaeolus species. "Mini-model" of Pa. subbalteatus. This species is not psychoactive, no matter who reported it as so. It was mistakenly identified as psychoactive in a 1990 High Times article by Brolyn. See Allen and Merlin, 1992 for complete research on the effect of this species and its alleged poisoning in three young children and some adults.
