How can I use an E-mail to track the sender?
    #2832896 - 06/27/04 09:27 AM (19 years, 8 months ago)

I purchased a few things online about a month ago. My package was supossed to be delivered soon after that.
The person I am dealing with Still has not shipped my order. He has given Real sounding excuses, but I am starting to not trust him.
He has been in contact with me, on a somewhat regular basis.
First he started having trouble with his cellphone, So I could only reach him via Inter-net. Now I got an E-mail claiming that he has been having trouble with his computer so I shouldn't worry if he doesn't respond right away.
When first entered this deal he had told me that he was getting ready to move from Pa. to NJ. I had expected to have bussiness done by the time he moved. Know I don't know for sure were he is at.
Can anybody here tell me the best way to reverse track an E-mail?
I have found IP trackers but I can't find an IP address attached to the E-mail. I use yahoo, they used to display that info. at the bottom of the E-mail, now I can't find it.
I'm not too worried about getting ripped off. I used a postal MO. shipped it using the Postoffice. If He does rip me. The U.S. Govt. will track him for me. Nailing him for mail fraud.AND HE KNOW'S IT
I would like to stay ontop of this though. I would feel better if I could track him and show up at his door myself.
If you have any ideas, let me know.

There's a way but it's fairly involved. Read about it here: http://www.quepublishing.com/articles/article.asp?p=25846

The sender's ISP number can be found in the header of the email in the 'received from' entry. It won't tell you who sent it, but you can tell where it was sent from.

finding out the specific individual who sent the email with the ip address only is nearly impossible unless you are a law enforcement agency with a warrant to supeana (I know I mispelled that one) the ISP for information regarding who was using that IP address at a specific time.
