Red Rocks Dead shows ALL NEW! WITH PICTURES!

Finally I got some pics uploaded for you all, but my limit is up, so this is all i have so far. I do have tons more I will upload in time. Enjoy! Wish you all could have been there! These do the stage and the boys and the beauteousness of the land no justice, but may give you an idea of what it's like there.  :smile:

So I got back home this morning after driving all night. All in all they were excellent shows and we had an altogether magical experience. I will post my photos as I get them uploaded. Warren Hanes AND Jimmy Herring are playing. They sound AMAZING together. Anyone who can get out and see them will be very pleased to say in the least.

Friday was very rainy (dumping rain) and cold! I wore 2 jackets, 2 shirts and jeans and I got soaked to the bone. I have never been so miserable at something that is supposed to be wonderful. My least favorite Dead show ever. I hate being cold! They played really well though, to make up for it. There was also a lot of fog that night which looked cool. Too bad I had to freeze, dammit!

For me, Saturday was the best night. I took mushrooms and they helped make the show very special for me. I can't think of many things better than tripping to the Dead with someone you love. :heart: It was simply pure magic for me that night. The weather was perfect, and the Dead were ON....They played lots of my favorite songs. Warren has a very beautiful voice and they all pay special respect to Jerry's songs, it seems to me. Comes a time was TOO beautiful, it made me cry, it was so lovely. They played extra cosmically and slow Saturday. Unfortunately the sound was a little off due to the high winds. They all looked really beautiful in the wind though, and it didn't take much away from the show. I just wish it could have been louder- the sound was going in and out, but that's ok. I thought of you all, shroomerites, and sent you lots of love! This was my favorite non-Jerry Dead show so far. We'll see if next tuesdays will top it though :smile:

The set design was really beautiful and trippy. I can't wait to show you my pictures although I'm sure they won't do it justice.

I went to sundays show too, but am running out of time to write about it. Basically it was a great great show, and I loved it! The drums were extra good I thought. The split birdsong was great. Candyman= incredible, china doll, not usually one of my favorites but played beautifully enough to make me love it. Samson= SMOKING. Here is the setlist:

Very nice, Saturday sure sounds great! it seems like alot of shows have been work this summer.

I can't wait to see them again, the Gorge is right around the corner.

ya, some kick-ass shows went down that week...
had tix for all 5 nights (but bailed fri - mizzble weather & me not quite recovered from some (food poisoning?) mexi food up in ft collins the night before...
~
hunter doin' his songs was just grand...
& the band returning to "bird song" during second set was -whew - out there...

("substance abuse report" :
saturday, me & lady friend each did up like 17 mg or so 4aco-dipt; i felt a rush up to maybe "level 2" & she felt nada...
sunday, 2nd song of first set, we each flashed a toke off of a tinfoil pipe loaded with mint leaves & DPT, & 30 saeconds later were both too wacked to wiggle; 15 or so minutes later, smoothed out to a verrrry interesting psychedelic space for pretty much the rest of the night (were those shivers from the cold & wind, or from the dpt? hmmmm...)
(& me chattering about the happy endings in so many of the songs: murder, betrayal, abandonment, shootouts, suicide, lost love, bad habits & bad people... hehheh...)

Nice pics Phishgrrl.... Most of ours turned out pretty poor due to us being rather out of our heads on Saturday night. Sat was amazing... great weather, great playing, great crowd, great venue. I've been meaning to post about my experience but just haven't had time!

We brought a long a friend of my girlfriend's who'd never seen the Dead before. My girlfriend decided that it would be great to bring him along so we gave him little choice and told him he was coming with us. He is broke and living at a State Park doing a conservation internship and I think Sara even gave him $50 to find a ticket in the lot! :-) He just happened to have a few magical peices of paper and was kynd enough to share them with sara and myself!!!!

I'd like to thank a guy named Rob who smoked us up with all sorts of killer hash that night. And shared his bottled water, and led my friend to a bathroom with no line(!!!!) and brought him back successfully. Rob was a great help to us that night.

Sunday was a lot of fun, too. We found an entrance to the venue that DIDN'T have a huge line. We only had to wait about 5 minutes... as opposed to over an hour Saturday night! Man, those lines were crazy.. funnelling everybody up a narrow sidewalk and only have 2 or 3 people pat everybody down.... it took forever!

Can't say much else.... time to leave for Alpine Vally!

a dude in the lot had a blanket spread with tons of free stuff and I got that hat from him.
