yeah, I'm sure that'd work well, never tried one. Out of curiosity, how expensive are they?

Hmmm. Im thinking of what color it needs to be. The ones i have seen and have been documented at sites " vendors" is the straight purple flower. not sure if its the lavenderish one or the dark purple. But that is the pic that shows up at all the searches i do for it. Wonder if its just this one type. or color. cause at lowe's they dont have the species labled. Just Petunia.

I hope this thread hasn't died, too.

Maybe we're all busy buying plants or chopping up our neighbors' plants.

Seriously, it'll take me a while to accumulate 10 grams of dried leaf from the little VIP's I purchased.

But I would like to see some more first-hand reports posted...

I wonder if a "stressing" period is effective with these as they have shown in other ethneobotanics. Perhaps it's the main ingredient to activity at all? So far, the reports show a pretty good variation in experience, which may be related to stress from shipping/growing, etc. I work at lowes and i am good friends with the department manager for the garden center...i'll see what i can find out about suppliers and pesticides and whatever else i think of tomorrow.

if we don't have the right species, i'll have him special order it for me.

unfortunately, all of our seed packets have been sent back to the suppliers and are no longer available at lowes, so if you're looking for seeds skip lowes.

Trying to smoke some now. Through water filtration. Definately a calm mood has come over me, but that's about it. Head is sort of heavy. Smoking some while making tea, so will post some more later on the effects of the tea.

im wondering if it maybe evaporates? The apperent only good effect by alk is in a coffee maker where it cannot disipate. maybe its liek alcohol? anyone try eating leaves? or simmer with lid on? going to go buy some garden store varieties and try different brew methods see if any work. ill buy all purple just in case?

Alk, are you able to get seeds or plants of the species you tried? even if only a couple for yourself, maybe you could sell some of yur own down the road?

That's a very good point.  The method of infusion requires a cover for that very reason.  To do a proper infusion, use flowers, leaves, and stems(decoctions use roots and bark and should boil 30mins with plant material added):

Infusion
(use 1ts dried herbs, or 2ts fresh herbs per cup of water)

.Start a pot of water on the stove
.place plant material in seperate container
.when water boils, remove from heat, pour over
the plant material
.place lid(a plate or something) over the infusion-to-be
.let stand 15-20mins, strain, drink(still warm-hot)

Infusions are best drunk fresh, but can be stored in fridge for a few days.
