I know you gotta look in close, but I figured this would be encouraging to some in here.  We had a week of below freezing and temps down to 20f/-6c.  Most days it would thaw in the sunniest spots, and the air temp would get up into the 50s/10c for a short window during the day, but the shady spots all stayed froze for the week.
The spot in the pic had no pins before the freeze.  Itโ€™s a pretty exposed spot where I just smashed one colonized block of wood and recycled spent cube sub with about the same volume of chips.  I put it around one of the risers for our irrigation system, didnโ€™t dig it in or anything just kinda smashed it around the riser, and sprinkled a little bit of oats or wheat on it and cased it with a light layer of potting soil.  After a couple days of freezing I mounded up some leaves over it.  I pulled some back to take a look last night and found those pins.
Itโ€™s really exciting for me because itโ€™s a different gene pool of subaruginosa than my other patches.  I really wanted to share just to show how they really like the cold.  Itโ€™s by no means a big flush or anything, but seems to be a lot of fear of low temps and freezing.  Not that hard freezes donโ€™t fuck up fruits, and slow them down, but just a reminder these things are not tropical organisms(at least as far as the cyans go) and they do well to get a little chilly.

Today I boiled, drained, and cooled a shitload of alder smoking chips.  I used my 3lb fully colonized ovoid mycelium grain bag to make: 3 shoebox sized tubs, 2 5 gallon buckets layered with chips and grains, 3 separate chip spots in my raised planters and mulch along a fence line. The tubs and buckets will be indoors until they're colonized, then they're going outside to prepared chip beds.

I also checked the mycelium of the others that are already outdoors and they're running! Cyan, azure & subs.

The only other woodlover I have yet to get going is allenii, and I'll be working to get that going in about 2 weeks.
