I'm glad you can see the magic in the band. And I agree El Paso is a great song that gives me chills when I hear it. Donna Godchaux sings You Aint Woman Enough. She was the their female vocalist from '72 to '78 and was married to their keyboardist Keith. I never really liked her singing and I think many would agree. Her backup vocals can be okay if she manages to be on key. Was was a raging alcoholic.

I dont know, I kind of liked her voice.. It can be enchanting, but it sounds like she's trying to hard to sound like a powerful singer sometimes, when she's more soft spoken. I'm a sucker for female vocalists though  :smirk:

So whatever happened to her? Is she still alive and boozin it/dopin it or did all that catch up to her?

I like that song and she sings it okay, but in alot of other songs she sounds like a scrawling and howling nuicanse if you ask me...

So you liked The Grateful Dead script... what kind of music did you think it would be?

I was also surprised when I heard them for the first time... For some reason i thought it would be more like Floyd and The Doors and Sublime (an old friend was a sublime head ans dead head).  And I never thought it would be so blues/country inspired.

You want to be reccomended a GREAT show?  Personally this is my favourite, 77-05-25... it suits all my moods.

When I downloaded 73-02-15 and heard it I was wandering what the big deal was... but I later forund out it just didnt hit the right mood at the right time... 73-02-15 ALWAYS hits the mood... AMAZING show... the first show I've heard.

You know what... the best dead is live... as most people agree on.  But I'm the type of person who when listens to something he has to listen to from track 01 till the end, so lately (after weeks of hearing their 3 hour shows over and over agian) I find it quite nice to listen to their studio recordings (shorter cd's and cleaner quality, bu less jamming :crying:)...

But the best dead IS live... and its great homework music, background music... anything music really.

You have just arrived at a new destination. Now go to a Dead show, i promise you it will be nothing you imagined either. After which you will be sitting with a big grin on your face wondering why the hell did'nt i do this years ago. Oh, and you will then vow to see another show.
Peace, pot, microdot..

Got a question about a substance?  Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the  mushroom experience? The  Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before.
