So, do you think that the petunia offered commercially is not the true Petunia violacea? maybe its an inactive hybrid? We will see when the test results come back.

Most probably arent active, if they have been bred too many generations away from the violacea. who knows if the VIP is close enough to P. violacea for our purposes. The whole VIP race is from one seedling from the ecuadorian violacea. if that one was magic.... :P

No effect yet or anything. The tea wasn't too bad tasting. I have 12 more grams of dried leaves to try again.

how long has it been? How much did you use again? I think with these store bought ones it may be better to double the dose up. .I woudl say. Go ahead and make tea with 12 grams.. I just ran mine through the coffee maker but yu may want to simmer longer.. down that and see what that does for you.

i think one person needs to try both teh argintinia and store bought stuff. becuase its hard to compare to other experiences ya know. i am up for it ,ill get a couple ozs if you order some alki. and im headign to the ###mart to see what i can muster up.

i am definatly interested in this one!  the only place i can locate it would be at enthnoplanet and ive never done business with them... seems pretty cheap besides shipping, and id much rather grow my own really.

i think you mentioned something about getting some for ethno-garden supply?  id be even more interested in the seeds if you could manage it :wink:

I got mine from argentina.. I THINK it may be the same place BB gets theirs from but i'm not sure.. and I doubt they will reveal the source to me. I have some left so I am going to make some more today but also include Dream herb and maybe heimia.. I will give this to two others who have not had shanin before and report back to you.

Seeds are cheap and easy to get.. so are the plants. Ethnoplanet has herb but they are not in the US and I am certain that my source is the same as who supplies to ethnoplanet.

If there is enough people interested.. I will see if I can buy a Kilo or so of it to offerr.

okay I will purchase a kilo. I should be able to offer it within the next week. I'll try to at least match BBB's price if I can afford it.. If I have to sell for the same price I bought it for, I dont care as long as you guys report back with the affects. we are pioneers here exploring new territory.

I will have a new trip report tonight from the view of 3 people.

also: i went to my local mart and also a garden center and NEITHER of them carries any petunias.  i was a little discouraged until i came home and read your last post :smile:

Well .. Truthfully I just wasnt in the right mind set.. I can down aya like its soda pop if im in the right state of mind but I was more in an experimentive state of mind than a sacred state of mind so I wasn't humble enough.. The secret is in humility, ones soul must become as bitter as the brew.

Alkaloid; I have absolutely no chemistry expierience, though if the active ingredients were soluable in water, which is polar. Would it be possible to do a more thoughough extraction with ethanol, or if you dare methanol?

well I wouldn't do a methanol extract if its to be consumed buts its really hard to say at this point. Yes it extracts well into water but it may not extract as good into other solvents (regardless of polarity) but we must work with the little knowledge of its phytochemistry that we have.. I would suggest macerating in EtOh and then evaporating to obtain powder/tar whatever it may be.. This may render it highly smokable.. Anyone care to try?

Well, about 4 or 5 hours after ingestion I was putting up a screen house and tent and started feeling really nauseous. I had a weird body sensation somewhere between the gravity pull of salvia and floaty feeling of an opiate. It was a lifting sensation, I'm sure it would have been more intense if I were lying down. This feeling only lasted about 15 minutes then the nausea came back with a plant taste in the back of my throat.

I'll try the 12 grams plus some more I harvested tonight around ~25g wet. I'll give it a few days for tolerance I guess.

did you extract it wet or dry?

dry would probably much more effecient in getting what you want out of it, and better tasting as well.
