I have seen others saying this, but cannot find the source?  Could you link.

edit: NM I found it.  Article I have says of 40 people hospitalized, 61% have two dose of vaccine.

I don't know about Nova Scotia specifically but my impression was that that people in hospital for Covid these days are mostly unvaccinated, in contrast to the overall population being mostly vaccinated. Whereas the vaccinated people testing positive tend to be at the hospital for something else.


But yeah it would seem this latest variant is passed around plenty by vaccinated people as well as unvaccinated people. It's just that the  ones getting seriously ill are mostly unvaccinated, even though unvaccinated people are a minority of the overall population.

You are saying things those particular statistics do not support in any way, shape or form.  All it says is in that particular area at that particular time, 24 of the 40 people hospitalized with covid had received 2 shots of the vaccine.  You cannot extrapolate anything more than that from those numbers.

I got my third shot, I had pfzier for 1 and two, they gave me a half dose (.25ml) of modern a for my third

1st shot I didnt even get a sore arm

2cd shot I got sore arm and some angina

Third shot, really sore arm, and flu-like feeling, like tomorrow I'm going to be really sick, even though I know I wont, but its still uncomfy, I've been spending all day in bed bundled up

Since omicron, only the unvaccinated are dying.



Sorta an interesting phenomenon. The vaccines are doing worse at preventing omicron infections but better at preventing hospitalizations and deaths

This thing is just that fast replicating and contagious. We indeed really are lucky this variant is of the nature it is. But also we've seen thru history with these kind of things after a year or two they seem to just disappear. There is some wieght to the argument that had we done nothing we likely would have reached this point a year ago or something. But the vaccine really saved us from overloading already stretched thin hospitals with critically I'll patients. So I guess it worked nearly exactly as intended. :sadyes:

They closed down the schools here again and we still have barely even seen a pandemic. It feels like getting in trouble when your sibling does something stupid

The limit my 12 step group to 10 people in the room, we already had to show proof of 2 VAX and wear mask, yet the vaccine clinic had 100 people going through at a time

My driving school got canceled, and my learner permit expires in Feb, so I got to figure that out

Nova Scotia is 82% vaccinated.

Here’s a quick calculation based on this data

24/82 = .29

16/18= .89

.89/.29= 3.09

Unvaccinated are 3 times more likely to test positive for covid in Nova Scotia hospitals

Of course 82% is for the entire popualtion. In general, hospitals are visited by older people more often, and older people are more like 90-95% vaccinated, so it’s probably closer to 5x more likely

Every piece of real world data is showing that the vaccines are holding up much better than the original laboratory experiments indicated they would.

Anecdotally nobody in my cohort of fully boostered family and friends has gotten covid ever and this area is ground zero for omicron in the entire world.  :shrug:

Maybe we’ve all had asymptomatic infections, but who gives a fuck. The only people getting sick from omicron are unvaccinated losers and the only reason we have to care is because they clog up the hospitals.

Delta is not being replaced. We have the same level of delta infection as we did 40 days ago



Good news is exponential growth has stopped. new case and positivity rate growth has peaked. Omicron is just about over in the northeast
