Panaeolous subbalteatus ??
    #2760781 - 06/03/04 04:44 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Was out working today and had to mow a few lawns. Found these growing on one of them and thought they looked a bit suspicious. Waiting on the spore print, but they have tints of purple along the stem where it may have been bruised and also on the veil. Have these pics as well. Let me know!

Not even close... Those are Psathyrella velutina. The only way they resemble pan subbs is they are brownish and drop jet black prints. Other than that they're really nothing like them... they're too beafy, too big, have webby veils(subbs don't have veils at all), and have a general furry/shaggy looking appearance.

Not sure where you got the purple brusing bit from but I've found these mushrooms literaly hundreds of times and they never bruised any color at all; perhaps your eyes are playing tricks on you. To be honest I've *never* seen a mushroom bruise purple. Blue? yes. Greenish blue? Yes. Purple? Never.

Not active. Not worth eating.

Well thanks just the same. I'm assuming the purple came from the spores which I read may be purple-black.
