Re: **official UK liberty cap season 2021** (NO ID REQUESTS!) [Re: skint] * 1

I love going out this time of year and trying to find good places but I always find that the fields that look perfect ( sheep fields ) are always inaccessible. I want to find some open land like in Dartmoor or something where there is just wild grassland with sheep grazing. When I've been to Dartmoor I have found them but alot of the land is like shrub and mossy type land. How to find that sheep grazed short grassland ??

Like this ... Always fenced off...

Dartmoor is starting to produce, found about 100 in a couple of hours, mostly singles or doubles. No mad flushes yet, another week or two I’d say.

When you find them on Dartmoor are you finding them just in the public areas where anyone can walk ?

Well most of Dartmoor is a public area where anyone can walk, but there are certain special places where the libs are abundant. Sorry I can’t share here, all I can suggest is you have some fun trying to find them! The good news is that in a couple of weeks you’ll see them in most popular walking spots, just not in such big numbers.</font></font>

Yeah I was in Dartmoor 2 years back and I was finding them while just wondering around but there weren't that many and the ground was like a lot of rocks with grass in between. It was difficult as there were also people around .. i didn't find any areas that were like only grass with sheep , all this areas always seem to be fenced off and inaccessible</font>

On higher Dartmoor most gates are unlocked and you are allowed to walk through as it’s common land. A few clues: look for north or east facing slopes. Look for lush grass, the type you might find in a garden, not the coarse darker stuff. You won’t find many amongst the gorse bushes or on boggy land. You’re unlikely to find them under trees or where leaves have fallen. If there’s a lot of other mushroom species around there’s going to be libs too. If the grazing animals like the area that’s also a good sign. Happy hunting! 😀

Yeah that's what I mean I found that alot of Dartmoor is more like boggy and the coarse dark grass.. I know the kind of places to find them but like I said those type of places always seem blocked or restricted.. what do you mean by higher Dartmoor ?

As a general rule the areas near the road are best.

Yeah that's what I found but then you always got people and cars around making you on edge , makes the whole thing quite unpleasant , couple of years back I found them away from the road up higher where it was rocky too

Have you considered scaling the fence? I know it's trespassing, but what's the likelihood of the landowner/ farmer coming by? My spot is strange because there are stiles and posts marked 'PUBLIC FOOTPATH', but I have to get over one barbed wire fence. Anyway, the farmhouse is close by and I'm sure I've been spotted roaming through those fields...Nobody has ever bothered me though. You're not really causing any bother or scaring the livestock too much...

They're all good for shrooms.

They're all also very far apart, go to the one that's closest to you?

Yeah its just Dartmoor I know as been before .. peak District and Wales are a little closer but never been there for shrooms.. from looking on Google maps Wales and Dartmoor seem more open and accessible , like right next to the roads are just open land but peak District seems like there's more fences and less accessible ?

Haha dude, sorry, but honestly, this is some of the flimsiest fencing ever. Can be jumped easily. I assume you have some good manners and don't want to trespass onto private land? If you want mush you will need to overcome this.
