Very warm and dry in the peaks still. Managed to find a fair few today, 30 odd in a couple of hours. The ones that were there were very easy to spot having been blow dried. Now we’re past the equinox the night temps will start to drop and there will be more moisture on the ground.

Hey, nice find! I'm thinking of heading to the peaks tomorrow for a bimble, may see you around, although next week does look more promising with the temperature dropping.

some pics from the peaks over the past week. been a good year so far. not even that cool or rainy yet. as long as it doesn't suddenly turn to a wintery freeze, there should still be more to come!! :crazy2:

Went for a little look about this morning, took the bike with me and rode out to the good spots. Conditions are still dry here in Devon but the dew overnight is enough to keep them emerging.. here’s some pics from today’s mission. Happy hunting👌🏼

I've got at least 30 growing in a small patch in by back garden.
Small ones, but lots of them!

How many should you eat, first time?

Also when you pick and mycelium comes up, should you cut it off and put the mycelium back?

20-30 small ones would be fine for a first trip somewhere you feel safe.

I try not to rip up the mycelium when picking them, but it's not known for sure if it does any harm.

Good point, please see attached photo’s.
All look like libs to me, with nipple, shape, colour, habitat, gills and spore print all checking out.

Best way is to make a tea. A light simmer for 15-20 minutes, discard the shroom material. Add a bit of honey if desired. :mushroom2:

I’ve munched a few.

Tried one to see what it tastes like, quite pleasant.
Waited a bit, then decided the two little ones were the odd ones out and down the hatch they went. With the utmost grace and respect of course.

Then waited a bit and munched another couple.
Had about 10 now. Can feel the effects, kind of see them.
20 might have been too much for first go. But it’s quite pleasant.

Thanks to you guys and the mycelium!

Me too brotha.. When fresh I put mine in a glass and chop them to fuck with scissors, then fill the glass with lemonade and it rids the taste entirely. For dried, I've actually started to get used to the taste, where I couldn't ever eat them straight before.

I went camping this past weekend and found increasing numbers each day, with a great day picking before driving back down South blissfully unaware of the fuel situation, which hopefully won't hold too many of us back.

I actually didn't mind them too much, fresh/raw and one at a time they were quite pleasant. They taste like they smell.
Did feel a bit guilty for eating them though. But I think they were a gift from god.

Still can't stand the thought of eating any other mushroom, especially cooked.

Went to my field on Dartmoor for the first time today, as the temps seemed good finally. Spent about an hour but only found two, decided to call it a day then found another two right next to my car lol! Was a beautiful day and felt great to walk on the holy ground again. My very first find also gave me a great photo to remember it by. Happy hunting folks!

Hi, would you mind sharing what area of the peaks you found these (not exact area obvs!!)? I'm drawing a blank still, thinking I might be a bit far south, it's still quite warm.
