Re: COVID-19 = SARS-CoV-2 - Novel Coronavirus Pandemic Main Thread - PART 3 (Third Wave 2021-2022 season) [Re: Enkidu]
    #27447651 -

You're not trying to get informed; you're belligerently resisting understanding the available information so you can feel justified in being a fool in danger. You don't answer simple questions, and you change the topic on issues to try to avoid taking responsibly for failure to act. You're repeating rehearsed nonsense about freedom when you won't make simple choices to promote personal welfare, public welfare, and protect public order, all of which are essential to freedom. Your comments show a clear lack of understanding of the disease, and you won't follow up by reviewing what people show you and learning about it. Go learn about the science instead of reading antivaxxer propaganda. You can't understand what's going on if you spend all you time listening to idiots who don't know what they're talking about. Start by assuming the the CDC knows what it's talking about, and then figure out why it's true. In the mean time, assume that they do know their shit, and follow their advice and get vaccinated. You can learn about why it's a good idea later. Or ask your doctor, assuming your not some wacko that treats pneumonia with crystals, and see what he says, because the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of vaccination to the point where studies are being done just to help address ridiculous fears about vaccination.

You should not ignore the rest of my comment. Those young children are at risk because you aren't doing your part to protect them when you have the option, and that makes you a bad parent. Like you said, they aren't eligible for vaccination. They are vulnerable to disease though, and you can protect them by getting vaccinated so you don't inadvertently spread the infection to them if you get exposed. Avoiding crowds and wearing a mask are all still great ideas, and I strongly support the decision to do that keep doing that kind of thing, but they're not good enough protection. The vaccines have almost no risks associated with them, and they're insanely protective. It's the easiest health care gamble you could make. It's probably safer than giving up fast food, and it's more protective.

Wow, you peeps are brutal. Enkidu has been extremely patient, rational and level headed. He's not spouting crazy conspiracy theories as facts. He's simply expressing his concerns and reasononing for hesitation on the subject. And doing so quite honorably, imo. I understand many feel that everyone should be vaxed, and it's a compelling argument. But jeez...the amount of hatred spewed at Enkidu for wanting to be more informed before agreeing to a foreign substance injected into self and family, is not only rational but is a mandatory course of action, imo. Throughout history, science has been proven wrong. Getting vaxed because of "science" is not nearly enough for me to take the jab.

Also, I feel like the medical field is more concerned about putting a bandaid on most issues, rather than exploring and promoting the avoidance of the root of problem. I believe a mandated healthy diet to be far more beneficial than a mandatory Vax. Although, I'm not for any sort of mandate.

I don't plan on not catching covid.

I think if I did I would be fine like the many people I know personally who were.

Including kids.

"Rather be shot by a .22 in the arm or shotgun to the chest"

Neither. I'd prefer not to be shot at all.

I think high risk individuals should be more inclined to get the vax and people who regularly work or engage in large groups

Im currently open to getting the vax after much of the back and forth that's gone on here

 @ 123 yeah that's pretty much it but that would be my response to anything trying to be forced onto me, it's not really about the vax at that point or if the vax is right or wrong it's that freedom is more important to me than to accept tyranny for an instant for the greater good. If I thought it would end there it might be different but I think it's just an opportunity to open the door.

If you want people to agree to kill everyone then you don't come out and say that. You slowly get them to agree to things at an ever increasing drastic way until when you ask them to kill everyone it isn't really that far out of the question.

This has happen in our history. The United States is weak. We have been around long enough that the timeline for rising and declining civilizations meets the criteria for a fall.

Im just trying to see the whole picture.

Alright Mr. Guess work I read your comment and took it to hear although I don't agree with some of what you said in the first paragraph but that's ok.

But I'm not the type of person to "trust first and find out after"

I'll have to think on it more as I've only recently entertained the idea of getting the vax.

How do you inform someone who's closed off, and has their mind made up?

There's a lot of catastrophes in our history where the medical establishment got it wrong and widely accepted and adopted practices resulting in death

That's a fact

I'm not saying it applies to the vax or that covid death isn't much worse.

But that's where the suspicion comes in

Like the above mentioned comment, it is being suggested to trust those in a place of authority and not do any dd prior to doing what they say.

That's irresponsible and dnagerous.

Possibly not as irresponsible and dangerous as not being cautious about covid, but i don't personally think that approach is wise

I've never said fake news and I've actually taken in everything said here to heart.

A bit hard when you have to claw through personal attacks etc in order to see something worth seeing, but I've done it

He's clearly asked questions and repeatedly mentioned he was leaning toward a Vax, from the info given. Bashing someone for making such a critical decision so quickly is frankly irrational. I've learned quite a bit reading this thread and had no intention commenting, but he's been called stupid, selfless, blah blah blah...I just wanted to voice my opinion on the current subject.  I'm certainly not trying to engage in arguments.

Peace

I'll do it once more here.

Probably be met with a death threat

Some of what's said here is extremist and in a hateful way. I don't trust or respect that behavior

And a lot of you just constantly attack and berate everyone

Appreciate your defense Yeats

He's clearly asked questions, you're right about that.

His position, however, will not budge.

This pretty much sums it up

Angry mobs usually occur after someone wrongs society.

You're right. A few days of engaging with opposition and learning from this thread is more than ample time to make a decision that goes against one's gut feeling. Personally,  I trust my gut feeling more than anyone or anything.  Not to say I couldn't be informed enough to ease that feeling but it would definitely take more than what I've witnessed here.

Very informative thread tho. And I appreciate it. Minus the negativity.

Well contrary to popular belief I am actually whole heatedly taking in the info here and my opinion HAS been nudged.

I've mentioned this before but my area covid cases are very low. I know a decent amount of people who have gotten covid and not a single one went to the hospital for recovery.

Maybe some of you have different experiences. If everyone around me was sick and dying then obviously I'd be more inclined to be full of fear and rush to get the vax.

So maybe try to understand that covid has really not been that bad or devastating in my area in a way that calls for immediate action.

I live outside the city and I don't act recklessly.

If I were to get the vax at this very moment it would be out of fear for my children, and out of courtesy to those around me in the event that I travel, as I have family out of state who I will eventually visit

I don't really think I'm the type of high risk to myself or society where I need to make a decision right this very second.

I respect and trust my aunt and uncle, they told me to speak to a member of our family who has his MD about it as they trust him. He's said that he thinks the vax is the right thing to do and that he could offer his opinion and reasoning so I'll probably see how I feel after I speak to him

Being informed is one thing. Believing "in your gut" the information given is another. I'm sure there are many topics we don't agree with, that's fine. But when it comes to something that is so controversially dramatic, and potentially life threatening, from each angle, I tend to observe info, from every point, with an open mind. That said, I don't normally feed into online discussions regarding this or that.

It's cute how you only quoted one sentence I wrote. That leads me to believe you agree with the rest.

Peace

Regardless if polio or smallpox were a new disease our society wouldn't be able to eradicate them(polio is near eradicated but religion is in the way of that) because of people with that kind of viewpoint.

Our society is full of people who are meme-informed.

You can't always trust your gut, or what you've been led to believe.

It was the main point in your post, so I edited out the rambling for aesthetic purposes.
