The two most predictive factors for poor covid outcomes are being unvaccinated and having a nontaster phenotype in the T2R38 gene.

The first one is completely determined by choice and the second one is completely determined by genetics.

Association Between Bitter Taste Receptor Phenotype and Clinical Outcomes Among Patients With COVID-19

This data is so amazing it should be part of the public health narrative.

No I'm really not 123.

I had a belief when I first posted here and I've looked at what was presented to me by people who had a different belief

Some of it was convincing and some of it wasn't

I probably would have responded better to the information and view if I wasn't constantly attacked and belittled for questioning it

I'm trying to remain open minded

Im not just trying to fight or incite argument and if I wasn't open to hearing or understanding why you all believe what you believe I would go circle jerk with the anti vaxers who are posting their own data and videos and stating their opinion as well as their negative opinion on vaxers.

I'm kinda stuck in the middle still failing to be able to entirely side with one side or the other

My inability to decide if the vax is safe or what is right or if I can trust it or what is going on etc. Inevitably leads to no action which by default is no vax.

I know the general consensus in this thread seems to be to get the vax as it is the responsible and sensible thing and anything else is lunacy.

I've largely ignored most of what was going on during this pandemic since I didn't think I could save the world and I had more direct issues to focus on since covid has never really even been noticable in my life besides the news and masks etc.

I've gone about my life and I thought after the lockdown and everything else this would eventually just blow over.

But it hasn't and now there is talk of mandatory vax etc and things aren't exactly better or over and this shit just keeps going on so ive been forced to actually find out wtf is going on.

I was extremely more skeptical before enduring the barrage of attack I've encountered here.

But it's like you expect me to just trust what you say and that what you say is best is best and I can't do that when other people are saying this and that and have a vastly different opinion.

I've been looking at info from both sides the last couple of weeks or so trying to see what is what and reading more about what's going on and trying to understand and look over both sides of the argument and why each side believes what they believe before making a decision and going commando for one side or the other

You're kinda stuck man. Vaccines have been given to millions of people, there are not millions dead from the vaccine.. But maybe..maybe they'll all start dying next month. Or maybe next year. Or maybe 20 years from now. Or or or.... There is no way out of the loop of that fear.

It is extremely odd to me that the weight of that fear of uncertainty tips the scales for you, in opposition to the absolute certainty that there is a virus out there killing people.

Asante, I don’t think we should have any sympathy and should celebrate the deaths of antivax/antimask activists. They are responsible for far more American deaths than al Qaeda ever was. Every time one of them dies ther movement of death is weakened.

Caleb Wallace spent the last year talking about how masks were part of the socialist take over of America and now taxpayers and insurance premium payers are picking up his hospital bill and his wife is begging for money on gofundme. This dude was in the hospital for A MONTH. We are talking about over a million dollars in medical care. It’s disgusting. I’m glad this terrorist freeloader is dead, the same way I’m happy when a terrorist bomb maker blows himself up.

One of the articles describes using known mildly bitter substances. People who can’t detect any bitterness in coffee or stevia are nontasters, if you don’t like coffee because it’s too bitter you are likely a supertaster. If you find them slightly bitter you are heterozygous. 25% of the population have no protective alleles. 25% have two copies (supertasters) and 50% have one protective allele.

Nontasters are about 16x more likely to be hospitalized than supertasters

I have a kit I haven’t submitted but my mom did and she looked it up and she is a supertaster which means I cannot be a nontaster. I don’t think I’m a supertaster tho. My mom doesn’t like coffee and cannot stand stevia.

I'm not scared of the vax per se

It's more like if someone wants to force me to take something I need to understand the risk involved as well as the reason for taking it

I've seen people claiming all sorts of things in regards to negative effects associated with the vax

I'm not saying it's true but I'm not going to just ignore everything out there when there are  highly intelligent and thoughtful individuals making the claims 

I haven't had an issue with covid yet so I need to know and understand why I should risk the potential side effects of a vax with unknown long term studies out of fear or because people tell me

Koods some of your comments are utterly disgusting to read

I'm not responsible for any deaths and there are people who have gotten the vax who have infected more people than me and had a higher burden on the medical system

You're not following the plot. I had said I wasn't worried about catching COVID, and that I'm making more money so long as other people who aren't worried about it but should be continue to do what they do.

I later said that going into work these days is anxiety-provoking because work has become far more unpredictable and, frankly, laborious. The units that aren't for COVID have just become a mishmash of everything.

As doctors and nurses in a speciality at a hospital you get used to seeing about a dozen disease processes and using a few dozen drugs, You become very familiar with everyhinig about those diseases and drugs.

When the situation is such that someone used to titrating vasporessors is trying to figure out psych meds, there are problems. Work just doesn't go smoothly anymore.

On top of that, the crisis nurses that the federal government sent in are shitty as fuck but the unit directors act like any body with a registered nursing license is as good as any other.

the red herring strategy doesnt work on me. the discussion is not about who is perfect or morally righteous and I've never tried to make it about those things.

I would argue that you use the fact that there are people who feel strongly about this as an opportunity to engage in attention seeking behavior by playing "devil's advocate". I see it everywhere, and I did it online, too, when I was younger and didn't really have anything to lose.

It isn't a game to a lot of people. Medical workers do not take the vaccination status into account when treating COVID patients. Maybe they should, but the fact is that at present they simply do not.
